Neighbourhood

We love our neighborhood: it is the perfect combination of city living and suburban calm! It is green and quiet but also very well serviced with shops, cafes, some really good restaurants and a small library. Dublin city centre is a stone throw away and you have easy access to all the entertainment options it has to offer, but none of the stress of busy city centre streets. It is an older part of town so there is a lovely community feeling here and it is very safe, while not at all boring! Shops include supermarkets, specialty shops, wine merchant, pharmacy and we have cafes and restaurants nearby. Sports facilities such as gym and a swimming pool are nearby (open to non members too, you can walk there in 20 mins or there is a direct bus). We are only 15 mins by bus from the city centre, on a direct bus line (actually 3 direct bus lines), 15 minutes from the big Dundrum shopping centre and 30 mins from the Dublin mountains and Wicklow County, fantastic for its hill walks and lakes. One of the great things we love about living here is that you don't need the car: from the house, you can walk to the park, restaurants and shops in 5 minutes and the buses will bring you into Dublin city centre very quickly. As well as good access to the city centre, we are a great base to explore Ireland: being already on the South of the city, you can access the motorway without worrying about rush hour traffic and can quickly reach most parts of the country. We have done car exchanged before and will be happy to consider this option again and help you with places to see and directions. I am always happy to help our guests plan a stay and would be happy to leave you info on how to enjoy the city and what not to miss in Ireland.

Nearest airport

Dublin airport, about 40 mins by car/taxi

Getting around

We live in between two sets of shops, both 7 mins away on foot: they include supermarkets, deli shops, restaurants, cafes, pubs etc. Dublin historical centre (Trinity college etc) is a short bus ride away from our house: the bus stops right outside our estate, you reach it in less than a minute, and brings you into town in about 15/20 minutes.

"Easter break. We’re open to ideas! We’d love somewhere in a village / city setting (big or small, Paris is alao perfect!) so we can walk to shops etc. The Loire Valley would be ideal but we’re open to other places that may offer a similar feel!"
