General overview

I will add pictures as we decorate and make the place presentable. We will refurbish our back garden during August 2021, can't wait to get this done. But of course there's always more to do! We live in a 3- bedroom house in a friendly neighbourhood/ community in South Belfast. We are close to shops, restaurants and public transport links for the city centre and beyond. We have a front garden / driveway and a decently sized back garden with seating, fire pit and hot tub (hot tub will be up in September 2021).

The space

I would say our house is a little eclectic - a mix of shabby chic and old fashioned meets more modern touches. We've been working on upgrading parts of the house and decorating others and hope to complete this in 2021. We have an open plan living room and dining room, with an arch way between the two. We also have an open arch leading to our newly fitted kitchen. The living room has French doors leading to the back garden. We have 1 bathroom with bath and shower and 3 bedrooms each with double bed. We are also turning an outdoor shed into an outdoor toilet to complete an outdoor living space in the summer. I love colour and so each room is different. Downstairs is all wooden floor and tile to make it easy to clean after the dogs while upstairs is all carpet. Our dogs both have hypo allergenic coats and don't shed hair thank goodness so they don't affect people with allergies. I think our house is really homely. While we like it to be kept clean and tidy and looked after with care, it is not so pristine that visitors might be afraid to touch anything.

Guest access

We have 2 floors with stairs leading from ground to first floor. Unfortunately our house is not very accessible though my mum was in a wheelchair and could access our ground floor and back garden but not our bathroom. When the outdoor bathroom is completed in September 2021 this will make a big difference.

Notes

We have two female dogs, both have hypoallergenic coats and do not shed hair. We are happy to exchange with folks who want to bring their dogs with them and will have our dogs in theirs, or can have them looked after if we aren't travelling with them or if you prefer them not to be in the house when you're here. We're really flexible with our pups.

Neighbourhood

We are approx 4 miles from city centre, close to bus and train links. Close to shops and restaurants or takeaways. Easy driving to parks, hiking, beaches. Great cycling routes and walking. Friendly residential neighbourhood. There is so much to discover in Northern Ireland - beaches, lakes, forests, coastal drives, distilleries, museums, history, castles, mountains, national trust properties, pubs, live music, cities and of course the Giants Causeway, one of the 7 natural wonders of the world. Everything is within 2 hours drive in any direction and you can easily venture into the Republic of Ireland to explore further.

Member description
Hi there. I'm Jeanine and my hubby is called Joe. We're both in our 40s and I'm an avid traveler who drags my hubby along on my coat tails as he's a bit more of a home bird who takes a little more convincing to travel. We live in a lovely community in Belfast surrounded by really nice neighbours. We have a 3 bedroom house with front and back garden. I'm really looking forward to exchanging and we are working on upgrading and decorating things around the house in preparation for that so hopefully soon in 2021! When travel resumes to something that looks more normal I would literally go anywhere, including close to home. I want to visit 50 countries before I am 50 years old. I am currently 42 years old and on 42 countries. At home we have two very cute pups called Bailey and Darcy. Bailey is a 2 year old Lhasa apso and Darcy is a 1 year old mixed breed (mum is bichon and dad is half yorkie half Lhasa). We are willing to exchange with folks who have animals. I have 20 plus years experience in having dogs and am just crazy about them so really willing to look after your pups if you can also look after ours. Other animals also a possibility. If you prefer not to have the pups around during a simultaneous exchange then we can bring them to our dog sitter. We are both very respectful, clean and tidy and will treat your home with respect. We haven't exchanged before but I can offer references from Airbnb or other property owners we regularly rent from at home for holiday and short breaks. I'm already in the Facebook group and love the camaraderie. I'm really looking forward to hosting and exchanging and meeting folks on this site.
