Neighbourhood
We are approx 4 miles from city centre, close to bus and train links. Close to shops and restaurants or takeaways. Easy driving to parks, hiking, beaches. Great cycling routes and walking. Friendly residential neighbourhood. There is so much to discover in Northern Ireland - beaches, lakes, forests, coastal drives, distilleries, museums, history, castles, mountains, national trust properties, pubs, live music, cities and of course the Giants Causeway, one of the 7 natural wonders of the world. Everything is within 2 hours drive in any direction and you can easily venture into the Republic of Ireland to explore further.
Belfast has a complicated history and I'm proud to see how it has changed and become so much more cosmopolitan in recent years. Belfast has really come up in the world; it has become a major tourist destination and foodie city! And Northern Ireland is a gorgeous small country where you can soak up all it has to offer.
Here's how Discover Northern Ireland writes about Belfast....
Belfast is calling - plan your perfect break today. A vibrant city with an eclectic medley of cultural treasures, friendly locals and a thriving food and drink scene. At Titanic Belfast, delve into where it all began for the Ship of Dreams; or take a journey to the MAC Arts Centre, a hub of creative diversity in Belfast's Cathedral Quarter. Music lovers can enjoy Belfast’s rock’n’roll legacy on a music trail while foodies can head to St George's Market for some tasty artisan food.
Titanic City
Walk the Maritime Mile and discover many attractions along the way. Start at The Big Fish sculpture, and from there, step aboard RMS Titanic's fully restored tender ship, SS Nomadic. Then immerse yourself in the history of the Titanic in the world's largest Titanic visitor experience - Titanic Belfast. This experience tells the ship's tragic tale through interactive exhibits. Situated on the exact spot the Titanic was built, you’ll need a few hours to take in the hands-on displays, including an underwater exploration theatre, a dark ride and recreated cabins complete with passenger holograms.
Get your culture fix
This cosmopolitan city is a culture-packed hub of history and creative diversity. The Cathedral Quarter—one of the oldest parts of Belfast—is full of character and one of the most enjoyable places to hang out. Old traditional pubs rub shoulders with chic bars, with galleries and street art lining the cobbled streets. Discover hidden gems tucked away in one of the alleyways, chill out in one of the many beer gardens and get your foot tapping with a traditional Irish music session. Explore the rich literary scene in Writer’s Square where quotes from famous local writers CS Lewis, Hanna Bell and John Hewitt are carved in the stone underfoot. Let The Black Cab Tour show you the best clubs, pubs, shops and galleries and then head to the west of the city to see the open air gallery of street murals.
Foodie heaven
A distinct food culture has developed in Northern Ireland, with a focus on the very best local ingredients. From the bustling St. George’s Market in Belfast to affordable Michelin star restaurants, Northern Ireland will always excite your taste buds. Join a food tour to meet local producers and sample the culinary highlights, ranging from handmade teas and chocolate to freshly baked breads. Don’t forget to pop by some local distilleries too where you can sip on a Jawbox Gin, Belfast Blonde or warm up with a hot Bushmills whiskey. Alternatively, take to the ocean with a local fisherman on a catch and cook course on the Causeway Coast.
The Great Outdoors
Belfast is the perfect base for those looking to explore both the Irish countryside and the infamous Causeway Coast. Just an hour north of Belfast, you will be transported to the magnificent Northern Irish coastline, famed for its epic experiences, picturesque villages and breath-taking views. The full route can be done in a day but is best explored over a couple, taking time to enjoy a stay along the route. Uncover history at the crumbling ruins of Dunluce castle, walk in the footsteps of giants at the UNESCO World Heritage site, The Giants Causeway, or get your heart racing with a trek on very edge at the Gobbins coastal cliff path. Why not follow the Causeway route all the way to the walled but ever-welcoming city of Derry~Londonderry with its unique combination of warmth and wit. Take in the history of this city with a walking tour, including the iconic Peace Bridge and the fully intact 17th century city walls. Mix this with the charming cafes, boutique stores and wonderful craft village as well as its thriving food and drink scene.
Game of Thrones®
Discover Game of Thrones® territory in Northern Ireland - one of the key filming locations for the show. With majestic ruins, ancient lands, dark forests and towering cliffs peppering the landscape you’ll see why Northern Ireland was selected as the backdrop of this global TV phenomenon. You can either take an organised tour or explore the locations yourself, stopping at Castle Ward Estate (Winterfell), The Dark Hedges (Kingsroad) and Cushendun Caves (The Stormlands) and many more. Or if you’re looking for something a bit different, why not check out the Glass of Thrones Trail? These 6 Giant stained glass windows were created to commemorate 10 years of filming in Northern Ireland and each one depicts an iconic scene from the show. Dotted along the Maritime Mile, you can follow the route from AC Hotel to HMS Caroline, passing Titanic Studios along the way, the true home of the throne, and where many of the of the fan favourite scenes were filmed over the course of 10 years.

I love promoting tourism in NI. Happy to chat by phone or video or meet up for coffee and offer recommendations
We spent a great week at Jeanine's and Joe's beautiful house in Belfast this summer. Their home is spacious, cozy, with everything you could need and we felt really welcome, moreover a welcome surprise was waiting for us on the table upon our arrival including some irish delicacies, beautiful tea towel with some irish typical symbols/places or also a kids book could be found there :)
Bedrooms with all those pillows were prepared like in a 5-star hotel :) especially a blue bedroom with a marine style, where I was staying with one of our kids, was very comfortable.
Jeanine is a great host, communicative, always ready to help or recommend some interesting places to visit.
We have visited Titanic museum, it's a must, I would say, when you are in Belfast, unfortunately, we have not explored it fully, as the exhibition was already closing that day, but never mind, at least it's another reason to visit this beautiful city again :) Kids really enjoyed travelling with pink double-decker buses, the bus stop is really close to Jeanine's house, it takes just a few minutes to get to the city center and a whole day family ticket costs around £10, that was a really good deal in comparison with buying the tickets separately, again it was a recommendation by Jeanine :)
Another very interesting place we have visited was Giant's Causeway with many hiking paths with great views, there was even a picnic spot where you can rest with kids or have something delicious to taste. I can't forget to mention the Dark Hedges from Game of Thrones, now I have to see the series, too, to come back in my memories of Northern Ireland :) and there were many other beautiful places including some traditional pubs or good restaurants with live music, where we tried some local food or beers or drinks :D yes, even with kids, but do not worry, kids had only an apple juice, of course :D
So, to summarize our vacation in Northern Ireland, I can just highly recommend exchanging with Jeanine and Joe, as your vacation will be awesome!
Thank you so much Katarina. Here's to exchanging again in future xo
We had the pleasure of staying with Jeanine & Joe in Belfast on short notice, and it was an incredible experience.
They were both extremely friendly and welcoming, embodying the PLU spirit. Jeanine even picked us up from the airport, which was a huge logistical help. We spent the first evening together, getting to know Jeanine & Joe before they both left for vacation.
Their two dogs, Darcy & Bailey, were absolutely wonderful—loving and easy to care for. They kept a good watch over us, and we thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them and going on long walks. These walks were both fun and refreshing for all of us. In fact, it was a challenge to convince my boys to leave the dogs and explore the city, despite the convenient direct bus connection to downtown.
The house had everything we needed— spacious, clean, and located in a quiet neighborhood. Jeanine provided us with lots of information about the city and was always available to answer any questions, ensuring excellent communication throughout our stay.
We stayed for a week and thoroughly enjoyed Belfast, especially the Titanic Museum, which was a highlight for us and the main reason for our visit. However, the absolute highlight of our Belfast trip was the time spent with Darcy & Bailey.
It was difficult to say goodbye to these lovely dogs.
Dear Jeanine & Joe, thank you so much for everything. We made beautiful memories during our stay. You are always welcome in our home. ♥️
Jeanine is an absolute sweetheart and Joe is amazing! Together, they welcomed us into their home like they were greeting family returning from a long journey.
Joe grabbed our suitcases and Jeanine sat us down to rest after visiting Giant’s Causeway and the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge.
We were fortunate to stay at their ocean room, which reminded us of Scituate Massachusetts, where we live by the sea.
We are so grateful to Janine and Joe for their amazing hospitality. They demonstrated such kindness and generosity to us that made us feel so welcomed.
We look forward to host Jeanine and Joe at our homes in Scituate and Naples.
Jeanine & Joe's home was perfect for us for a few days in Belfast - It was a cosy spot to relax after long days out exploring and lovely comfy beach room to get a great nights sleep.
Looking forward to repeating in the future.
Eileen & Tom
Kindred spirits I tell you!!! Jeanine and Joe have a beautiful home, Beautiful, beautiful family, and beautiful souls. So convenient and so welcoming. We would stay with them again in a heartbeat
We had a lovely wee weekend in Jeanine and Joe's caravan. The site itself is great, with all the amenities including a shop and bar/disco. There is plenty to do in the area. We went to the beach and Castlewellan Forest Park as well as a wee trip into Downpatrick.
Jeanine was very easy to communicate with and nothing was a bother. She was very helpful and gave us plenty of instructions about how everything worked etc.
The caravan was very clean and comfortable in a lovely, peaceful spot.
Thanls for a great weekend!
Oh wow, I hardly know where to begin....
I absolutely LOVE Ireland and have had the good fortune to exchange there about 5 times, but I had never been to Northern Ireland. So when Jeanine said yes to exchange I was overly thrilled!
We finalized the swap long in advance and it ended up being non sim, with me and Casper coming Easter time and Jeanine and Joe will come in July. From our very first contact, communication with Jeanine has been a joy. She's a super fast replier, very easy to communicate with, a well of good advice and super helpful with whatever I threw at her.
She was super understanding when it turned out that my work has messed up my vacation dates and I had to write and ask if we could alter them and honestly I think it turned out for the better the way the dates worked out.
Casper and I flew to Dublin and rented a car there as that was cheaper for us than flying into Belfast. Even more so as we had finalized a 4 night exchange with Tom and Eileens adorable home - Annalee Cottage - in Cootehill before heading to Belfast.
We got to Jeanines home a bit earlier in the day than expected due to bad weather in Rostrevor where we had planned to do a hike and we had the pleasure of meeting Nicole and family (from England) briefly, who had stayed in Jeanines home before us so a back-to-back exchange.
We were also welcomed by the two adorable little furballs Darcy and Bailey, that were a part of our exchange. After having been out shopping groceries we took a chill day and really enjoyed a lovely time in the hot tub in the garden with glass of wine - could def get used to that! ;-)
Our days in Belfast simply flew by. I though a week would give me time to see and do loads and it did, but honestly we just scratched the surface. When in Ireland the weather pretty much determinds what you can do and when, so one has to acknowledge that fact and make sure to bring prober clothing and shoes if you plan to hike and be outdoors (which you def should in my opinion).
Casper and I love to hike so we had picked some trails that sounded great. We went up the Antrim Coast, which is nothing short of STUNNING. We did a quick pitstop at The Dark Hedges, the first stop at a GoT film location. Then drove to and parked the car at Dunseverick and took the bus to Carrick-a-Rede. We walked to the little island across the rope bridge, saw the location used for Renly Barathyons camp in GoT before we walked along the coast back to Dunseverick. I can highly recommend this as the scenery is breathtaking and also gives you another GoT film location at Ballintoy Harbour. I took soooooo many pictures cos around every corner was more beautiful scenery. Just be aware of the tide around White Park Bay if you wanna do the full hike (approx 9 km).
We went back up to the Antrim Coast to visit the Giants Causeway. Go early as it'll crawl with people around lunch time. We also visited Bushmill with the famous distillery and tried to find the two little Gin destiileries in the area, but no luck. We did however find the bottles for sale in a shop in Bushmill so happy me :-D
We also made it to Dunluce Castle 2 miles from Bushmill, another location used in GoT (used as Seat of House Greyjoy, the great castle of Pyke) - very nice and worth going to.
We also took the dogs on a hike up Cave Hill from Belfast Zoo, which gives great views over the city.
Sometimes it is a small world as it turned out that Sarah and family, who'll be coming to my home end of May happend to be exchanging just north of Belfast the same time we were there, so we met up for a doggie walk and a cuppa. Sarahs first exchange happend to be at Jeanines home! It was lovely to meet and have a mini PLU meet up and I look forward to welcoming Sarah shortly.
We also explored Belfast with visits to the Titanic Museum. Book tickets in advance as we had to wait for two hours when we just waked in. We spent the waiting time walking the Titanic Trail, visiting the Titanic Distillery and grab a snack at "The Galley" in the museum as we had a short, but heavy rain shower then.
As a HUGE Narnia fan, I dragged Casper around Belfast to find the C.S. Lewis Square with figures from the tales as well as the statue of the man himself (did the same in Rostrevor). We also ended up doing a minor pub crawl discovering a couple of breweries in town. It was super convenient to take the bus into the city as the bus stop is only two minutes walk from the house - can highly recommend doing that rather then driving and parking.
It was lovely to have the company of the little cute furballs, which were really easy going and cuddly. They loved cuddling when we hit the couch for movie or some reading. It was no hassle at all to pet sit and I'll happily do it again <3
Jeanine had sent me both the home manual and videos with instructions regarding the dogs and how to work the hot tub - one can def tell she's a pro at exchanging! We kept in touch during our stay via WhatsApp, which was nice and helpful.
Overall, I can highly recommend to visit Northern Ireladn and if you get the chance, then exchange with Jeanine and Joe - you wont regret it!
Thank you Jeanine for letting us come, we loved every minute of our stay and I hope to come back <3
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback! You are welcome back anytime xo
Jeanine’s home is lovely, spacious and comfortable. It is perfectly located just a couple of minutes’ walk to the main bus line into Belfast centre. We had a lovely stay with her two happy, friendly dogs who were a pleasure to look after.
Jeanine’s home was very comfortable and we felt right at home while there. Jeanine was a really great exchange partner in particular as it was our first one. She was very supportive, answering all of my questions and making sure that we had a very successful first home exchange.
Jeanine’s area in Finaghy is a great base to explore Belfast and the surrounding areas. We had a fantastic day at the W5 and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Belfast. Another highlight for the kids (and adults) was the bull run in Colin Glen which is also very close to Jeanine’s place. We could have stayed for a week, there are so many things to see and do. I would really recommend a trip to Belfast and if you are lucky enough to secure an exchange to Jeanine’s house that will be the cherry on top!
Jeanine and Joe’s place was warm, inviting and decorated for Christmas. We were there with our 11 year old and extremely appreciative of the festive décor that they took the time to put up even though they were going to be away for the holidays. The beds and couches were very comfortable. Their dogs are absolutely adorable, sweet and fun to be around. It was fun coming home to two little one that are so excited to seeing you each and every day. They each have a unique personality and were fun to get to know and play with.
Their home is an excellent location in walking distance to many restaurants, bus stops and a reasonable walk into the city of Belfast. I might add we like to walk. Jeanine was very communicative and an amazing hostess. She waited for an inordinate amount of time at the bus station to pick us up since the bus was late, it was raining and the local bus operators were having an issue that day. There is so much to see and do in Belfast. I would have never have known and visited on my own. That you Jeanine and Joe for the opportunity.
Thank you for your great review!
A very pretty house in a quiet neighborhood not far from downtown by car. Jeanine had everything ready and waiting for us. There was every comfort in the house, the temperature was just right and we slept well... Nothing to complain about ! Many thanks again !
Spent a week here at Joe and Jeanine's with their 2 lovely dogs Bailey and Darcy. Home was comfortable and about a 15 minute walk to shops and restaurants. Bus stop is a 6 or 7 minute walk away with bus to city centre. Try the fish and chips at Nemos which we loved and ate there 3 times. Great deal for pensioners! Fish and chips, buttered bead and a pot of tea for only 7 pounds. Belfast is a lovely city and well worth a visit. Thanks Joe and Jeanine for the thoughtful things you left out for us as well..
It was an absolute pleasure to meet and stay at Jeanine & Joe.
We were given lots of pre arrival information on the area and how things work in the home.
They were home to welcome us on our arrival and we enjoyed their company for a few days prior to them going away . We looked after their 2 fur babies for a few days and they were no problems at all .
Their home is very comfortable and is only short walk to bus and into Belfast city in 20mins regularly.
The is lots to see in the area and plenty of day trips to explore.
The trip was special for myself and sister as we were born in Northern Ireland and were home to scatter our Dads ashes.
Thanks very much for everything Jeanie & Joe , keep on doing what you are doing !! as it’s fantastic !!
Love Pauline, Cameron & Milanda
Thanks so much you 3. Here's to meeting again in future!
We had a great stay at Jeanine and Joes home. There was extensive communication beforehand and I felt I really got to know Jeanine. She provided lots of clear information about her home. The house is very comfortable and clean, in a quiet area with buses into the City a very short walk away.
Jeanine was a amazing host was lovely to have met her home is comfortable so enjoyed the outside area u can see they love their home
Location for public transportation is very good and reliable
Would definitely recommend a visit here
Close to experience everything Northern Ireland has to offer
Can’t wait until we meet again
Highly recommend Jeanine & Joe's home in Belfast. What a wonderful week we had exploring beautiful Northern Ireland. Great location, nice neighbourhood, cosy, comfy and warm house, comfortable beds, it had everything we needed. We loved looking after the two gorgeous doggies - thank you for entrusting them into our care, it made our kids' holiday! Good driving distance to the airport, the Giants Causeway, Ballycastle, the famous coastal road, and the city - check out the Titanic museum. Lots of national trust properties in NI so if you're a member like us, there are many free days out to be enjoyed. So much to do in NI so we need to come back to see more. You can't see it all in one week! We enjoyed easy communication with Jeanine in the planning stages of our exchange and she really made our first PLU experience super-easy. Great to meet our hosts at the airport too! Looking forward to welcoming you to our house in the summer.
Jeanine’s home is a clean cosy and comfortable home to stay for our mid term exchange . Jeanine is a very organised and communicative host with excellent instructions snd guidelines given for us . There’s a spacious newly refurbished garden and it’s location is quiet but only a 4 min walk to local bus stop that was an easy 25 min ride to Belfast city centre. A family day ticket was £9 and did all the buses in the city for the day . Nearest local shop is 7 min walk and local restaurants and super markets are a 15 min walk . If you drive south for 5mins there are some beautiful parks to go for a walk in. There’s loads to do in Belfast for kids or adults . Being from the southwest of Ireland it’s our first big trip to Northern Ireland and we really enjoyed it . The hop on hop off tour bus is very good and historically very interesting , as well as Vertigo and W5. The ulster museum is worth a trip and it’s free . The titanic quarter really has loads to do for families . We’ll be back again at some stage to do the giants causeway and other parts of Northern Ireland . Overall we really enjoyed our stay and got lucky with dry weather in February. .
I would be very happy to exchange again so we can both see more 😊
Jeanine and Joe's house is located in a quiet and pleasant area, moreover the proximity of the buses to go to the city center is very significant. No noise in the neighborhood. The house is very cozy and the Christmas decoration made the house even more welcoming and so we had a great stay in Belfast. Darcy and Bailey (the dogs) are balls of love and overflow with affection and tenderness. It was a pleasure to have them with us and to go on walks with them. In terms of equipment, there is everything you need, the beds are comfortable and the whole house is immaculate. Our car swap went very well. The communication was very fluid, they were very good advisers for us, always present when needed. We therefore highly recommend Jeanine and Joe.
We exchanged with Jeanine and Joe at the end of November which was the first weekend of the Belfast Christmas Market. The house is located in the quiet suburb of Belfast with good links to city center - about 20 minutes by bus. The house has 3 double bedrooms which are very clean and welcoming. It's clearly marked for the guests which wardrobes are for guests use and which ones are private - I think it's a great idea and will definitely use it myself. The house has also great big garden to the back with the hot spa. But I think the best part of the house is that you actually feel like you're home. It's not an empty shell but a place full of memories and personal touches.
Thank you for exchanging with us
Myself and my boys had a wonderful first time exchange experience at Jeanine and Joes house in Belfast. We were very at home and comfortable there and the boys even noticed how comfortable their bed was! It’s on a lovely quiet residential road and there is no noise. Everything is very organised and clean. And we felt very safe. They also have a lovely back garden space where we all enjoyed using their hot tub after our days exploring around the local parks. The locals we met were all super friendly. We all came home rested and rejuvenated and very positive about joining this exchange community. Thank you Jeanine for being such an easy and enjoyable first exchange and for answering all my questions and the smooth communication.
We had a fantastic 8 day hosting exchange with Jeanine and Joe. You could not ask for better hosts! They are so welcoming and friendly. Jeanine is passionate about sharing all the cool things Northern Ireland has to offer. We weren't able to get a rental car due to Covid-related high prices so she graciously drove us to several places. Her dogs are super sweet and love to snuggle. They really liked our girls. Jeanine's home is super clean and comfortable. Her home is just a short walk to the bus stop that easily takes you into city center. We really enjoyed Belfast and highly recommend going there. There's loads to see and do. We didn't even scratch the surface. Above all, we are delighted to have made new friends. Thanks for making our Northern Ireland experience so memorable! See you in St. Louis Jeanine & Joe!
What a fantastic time at and with Jeanine and Joe (and Bailey and Darcy!). They have a lovely home and yard perfect for a stay in Belfast. Near two bus routes to easily get into the city, I used them daily. They are also located near some amazing parks and gardens, which I took advantage of.
Jeanine then took me on what became a girls trip and we stayed with a friend of hers further west in NI. There is so much to see, I know I will be back.
Wonderful time that I will cherish always!
Jeanine was a gracious and generous host! Her home was neat and tidy and in a neighbourhood very close to all amenities. Wish we had more time to enjoy her gorgeous backyard and hot tub but there was too much to see in Beautiful Belfast!
We exchanged with Jeanine and Joe for a long weekend this July. It was a fantastic experience where we were all first timers at this gig. Communication between ourselves and Jeanine was excellent beforehand and when we arrived, everything was as expected, except possibly better! Jeanine and Joe have a fantastic house, 15 min from Belfast City Centre in a quiet area. We are a family of 5 and the space was perfect for us as well as their two dogs who stayed in the house while we were there (upon our request!). The house met all our needs, and was very comfortable. It had lots of shops nearby, local parks to walk or drive to and so close to the centre of Belfast, it was perfect for our City Break! Thanks again Jeanine for making us feel so welcome in your lovely house.
As I mentioned before, Jeanine is not just a great host but even a great guest. She is communicative, very friendly and our apartment was treated as like it was her home - spotless and perfectly prepared even for our next visitor, as we were staying in Slovakia at our parents at the same time. Moreover, she is very generous and hospitable, as Bellini package (my favourite drink that I tried in Italy sooner this year), apparently obtained during a wine festival she and her husband Joe visited together while staying in Prague, was waiting for us after getting back home, what a thoughtful surprise :) don't hesitate to exchange with Jeanine and Joe at all and just do it ! ;)
I had the pleasure of having Jeanine and Joe stay at my apartment for one night in July this year. We had a blast. They are so nice, kind and open people and I hope I will have the opportunity to visit them in Ireland one day. They had to witness electricity disappear in my apartment while I was on my way to Italy during the night. But they handled that with a smile. The communication with Jeanine was super all the way through.
Casper and I went to stay in Joe and Jeanines home over Easter earlier this year and we had an absolute fab time ther ewith the valueadded bonus of looking after their fur babies <3
Now I could welcoem them in my house and it was such a pleasure to have them. One can tell that their are happy and experienced exchangers. Jeanine and I have chatted for a very long time from when we riginally started to organize our exchanges.
We also kept in touch during their stay in Denmark and even managed to meet up for a drink one afternoon. It was brilliant meeting them i IRL and we chatted like we've known eachother for years - well, Jeanine and I didnt leave poor Casper and Joy many chanced to get a word in :-D
They spoiled my furry critters big time and I'm sure my pets, especially Cleo, miss them much! Jeanine and Joe have taken excellen care of my pets and my home and it has been such a pleasure having them stay!
They left my house in perfect condition and even took the time to prep a load of washing before they left. I can most certainly give them my highest recommendation and urge you to exchange with the lovely couple.
You guys are always more than welcome to come back! <3
Jeanine was great to deal with, sent great info on her home and was generous in her advice and tips.
Lovely person - hope our paths cross for one of those PLU get-togethers someday soon.
You're welcome back anytime too. :)
I would love a big get together for the growing number of people in Ireland / NI now
Jeanine had a great weekend in our house with her Joe and the doggies and was very respectful and easy to communicate with.
It was a pleasure to welcome Jeanine and Joe to our house, after staying in their home last July. During the interim we have built up a lovely friendship and have had ongoing communication. They have been perfect exchange partners and have looked after our house like their own, leaving it clean and tidy.
Long may our friendship continue 😍
Jeanine & Joe were a delight to exchange with. Lovely people from our 1st FaceTime chat, super communications leading up to their stay at ours & super to meet in person, we had so many things in common!
They left our home as if they hadn’t even been there!
Great updates as they enjoyed our usual local surroundings, can’t wait to arrange our time to them, hope if we can get together for a beer or two!
Jeanine and Joe were excellent guests and we would not have known anyone had been our house while we were gone. They took very good care of our home. Thank you Jeanine and Joe ❤️
We welcomed Jeanine, her niece and her children for a stay with us for a few days.
Good communication, no problems and we were lucky to be able to share a meal together on the last day. As with our first exchange with Jeanine, we highly recommend doing exchanges with her and her family.
Jeanine and Joe were fantastic guests! So glad we got to meet them briefly in person before their stay at our house. They were so easy to communicate with and took amazing care of our house. We would happily host them again
Jeanine y Joe were great guests in our home very respectful and left the place tidy as they had found it
Wish we could have met each other again but I’m sure our paths will cross again
Safe travels and stay in touch
Happy new years
James y Sheila
Thanks Sheila. Knowing that you had another guest coming hyped up my OCD haha! I really hope we meet again. Happy New year to you both xo
It was lovely to welcome you to our house and to know that our dog was so well cared for. He thanks you for his gifts! You're welcome any time. We would not hesitate to exchange with Jeanine and Joe again, they are perfect exchangers. Thanks again.
Our house was in perfect condition when we came back . It was well looked after and the cat I think wants to move to Belfast ! He was spoilt while we were away .
We found our house and our car as we had left it. Jeanine and Joe were extremely respectful of the place. Communication was very fluid with them throughout the stay. We communicated at the end like old friends, which was particularly pleasant for us. They took good care of our two cats, even the most fearful of the two allowed himself to be tamed. We therefore strongly recommend Jeanine and Joe and we would welcome them again if the opportunity arose.
Everything went fine. We arrived to the place exactly as we left it.
Fantastic guests -place is spotless to come back to. Great communication and very respectful and responsible.
Jeanine and Joe stayed at our house in Dublin as part of our first exchange for a long weekend. They were the perfect guests. Communication was great with them before and during the exchange. If any of us had questions, we would ask. They are organised people (much more than me!) and so made it very easy to exchange with. They left our house spick and span afterwards - was a lovely feeling to come back home knowing that our home had been cared for. I can highly recommend exchanging with Jeanine and Joe, we had such a great experience.
Oh my goodness, I literally can't sing Katarina's praises enough.... she is a phenomenal host! She had come back to her apartment from Slovakia to check everything was in order, she had a cleaning lady in, she got loads of gluten free items in for Joe AND had some shopping delivered the night we arrived in case we had no food. Katarina kept in touch throughout our stay and checked in to see we had everything we needed. Just fabulous. We were also delighted age and Gabriel invested in an air con machine. Great after a long day of sightseeing.
As for the apartment, we loved it! Spacious, bright, clean, comfortable, great location and had everything we needed. I think I need the same coffee machine now! We fell in love with the apartment, and with Prague. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend an exchange with Katarina and family or to Prague. Amazing city!
Katarina and I have been chatting away by text for a few months now so this really did feel like welcoming a friend. I sadly didn't get to meet she and her family as I made it back to my house a little too late on their final day. Katarina, Gabriel and their lovely kids looked after our house fabulously. It was clean when we got home and we were delightfully surprised to see the bedding all washed and dry! Thank you so much! And for the lovely treats, some of my favourites in there!
Communication has been really easy and consistent and in just 3 weeks we'll be in their home in Prague. Very exciting! I highly recommend Katarina and family as guests.
Gitte's apartment is wonderful in every sense. Beautifully decorated, comfortable, in a great location, fabulous balcony with great views for an evening tipple and the benefit of having parking available. Gitte herself is a delight. We're so glad we got to meet her and thankful that she let us stay a night despite that she was going off on holiday herself in the middle of the night. We had a fun chat and some laughs and we look forward to welcoming her to Belfast. Gitte was kind enough to let us leave our rental car for our final night, which we spent in a rental apartment that had no parking.
Our side of the exchange with Lone was everything we expected and more. We loved Lone's comfortable home and all her pets made our week so much more fun. We barely scratched the surface of everything there is to do nearby all we will just have to go back!
It was a delight to get to meet Lone and Casper this time. I think we've found a lovely new friendship and suspect we'll both see each other and our homes again in future.
For those considering Denmark, look no further. North Zealand has so much to offer and Lone's home makes a perfect base to do it from. We visited Hillerød, Hundested and Liseleje and spent a day wandering Frederiksværk and the surrounding area. We missed out on so much more due to only being there 5 nights. Denmark is so much more than it's capital city, which is also fab, no question. But you're missing out if you don't take time to take in what this part of the country has to offer.
Diana and her sons were wonderful guests and dog sitters. Our home was in perfect condition and our 2 girls could not have been looked after better. Diana is a really easy exchange partner, very communicative and kept us up to date. I'm so glad she reached out and asked to visit Belfast and if you all ever want to come back don't hesitate to ask us.
Diana, Thank you for being so attentive to our pups and our home. We loved getting to meet you all and hope to do so again in future
I'm so glad Susan reached out to ask if she could stay with us for a night. I love hospitality and the chance to meet new people and welcome them to our home. Susan and Brian were a delight to meet and very much share our passion for travelling. They're new to PLU but I have no doubt will become dab hands at travelling in this way. Very friendly, thoughtful and outgoing and I look forward to connecting again in future. You're welcome back to Belfast anytime
Thank you so much Jeanine and Joe for your amazing hospitality! We felt so at home and comfortable staying with you and that is because of your amazing kindness and generosity of spirit!
You are welcome anytime to stay with us in our home in Boston or in Naples.
You’re the best,
Susan & Brian
Eileen is a great exchange partner. Kept in touch with me on what's app and answered all my questions. She and Tom were also great guests. Our house was spotless on our return. Thank you again for exchanging with us xo
Eileen and Tom's lovely cottage was just what we needed this weekend. We've been crazy busy this last while and were craving a chance to chill out, enjoy the garden, play with our dogs, sleep in, enjoy the peace and quiet and do very little other than wander. This cottage delivered all of that. Cosy, comfy, great views huge gardens and everything you could need to relax 'at home' for a couple of days. We enjoyed the wine and treats left, thank you so much. We very much hope we can exchange again when Eileen and Tom feel like another weekend in Belfast.
Scott and Christy were fabulous guests. Very communicative and they looked after our home extremely well. It was spotless when we returned home. The bonus was getting to meet them as we spent their last night in our house with them. So bubbly, friendly and easy to chat to. Can't wait to go to their house in future and hopefully meet again. I highly recommend them as guests
Thanks you guys. Hope to see you soon
As Brenda and Robbie live near us in Belfast they came to our caravan just outside Ardglass instead. The van was in perfect condition when I came back to it today. I wouldn't hesitate to exchange again for a weekend away
Joe and I (and Bailey and Darcy) just loved Brenda and Robbie's cottage. Full of character and so peaceful and private. We want our own cottage in Donegal now! We had everything we needed and a comfy bed which is always important. It was lovely to enjoy a fire and a drink in the evenings with no distraction from TV or WiFi. Such a relaxing time. We would go back tomorrow
Lone and Casper were perfect guests and perfect pup sitters. Just as expected from such an experienced exchanger. I'm delighted to have had the chance to welcome Lone to Belfast. Communication has been smooth and regular throughout, our house was in first class condition on our return home and we just knew our home and pups were in safe hands. I can't wait to meet in person when we go to Denmark in the summer.
I've gotten to know Ruth through our regular communication this last year or so and as expected, we felt right at home in her (and Simon's) home. It is spacious, bright, welcoming and comfortable. Beautiful back garden and we even got some sunshine to sit in it! The village of Westbury-on-Trym is a lovely place and an easy bus ride to Bristol City centre. Bristol is an excellent city to visit, full of history and character. We will definitely return to Bristol and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend an exchange with Ruth and Simon.
Nicole looked after our home really well and had great patience in my requests for getting it ready for our next exchangers. Communication was regular and smooth and it looked like my dogs were spoiled by the kids. It's such a bonus to know your pets are well cared for 🥰. We're looking forward to visiting Wales in the future. Thanks so much for reaching out for an exchange Nicole and family
We LOVED Lorraine and Geoff's home. Cosy, quirky, eclectic and it just told us so much about them. We were lucky to spend some time together and discover funny commonalities. Gosport is a lovely place - it's so nice to wake up on a sunny morning and wander to the sea. Loads of maritime history and just a ferry away from Portsmouth Harbour and Isle of Wight (which we sadly missed on this occasion). Sometimes you just know when you'll see somewhere again and this area feels a likely candidate!
We are so very pleased to have had the time with you before we left you to it!
And, yes - I do hope you’ll return for more exploring and the Isle of Wight visit too!
Already looking forward to our Belfast visit!
X
Gillian and family left our home in perfect condition. I'm delighted I got to be their first exchange and offer space to enjoy some of what Belfast can offer. Communication before and during the exchange was regular so we were both able to prepare and agree expectations.
Gillian's home was a lovely base to relax for a few days. Quiet, clean, spacious and comfortable. Great location, walking distance into the village with a couple of pubs, restaurants, cafes, takeaways, supermarket and community theatre. Everything you could need in walking distance. Really close to Fairy House race course though no meetings on this weekend, and really close to the old Tayto Park, now Emerald Park. I would have jumped at the chance to go but it isn't open for the season just yet. Also close to lots of other attractions. We went to Newgrange (which is older than the pyramids in Egypt and Stone Henge) and Trim / Trim Castle - the town in Ireland with most standing medieval buildings.
We thoroughly enjoyed the family home and area. Really friendly locals also.
This is my second visit to Fabien and Eurydice's home and I loved it as much this time as the first. It was so nice to return to this lovely French village and to spend time with Volo and Neo again and new family addition Plume the rabbit. As a bonus we got to meet in person this time. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home for exchange.
Oh we loved Colette's home and Puerto Morelos itself. So handy to have been able to rent a car from Colette for our whole 2 weeks, this made life so easy to get around places. Colette's home is in a lovely gated community surrounded by jungle. Wildlife will be your neighbours - we seen monkeys, lots of birds, coties and lizards. We really enjoyed the pool area and witnessing the sense of community. Colette's home is spacious and comfortable. We loved wandering around to see what was for sale because Mexico has stolen us! Colette also gave us great advice for activities which we thoroughly enjoyed, particularly snorkeling with Seven Days tours and a cenote tour at Zapote Ecopark. We also seen Cirque de Soleil which was fabulous. The location is excellent and we would totally go back, and recommend Colette's place to stay in. It was so nice to briefly meet when we were picking up the car also, and to meet the family dog.
There is nothing we didn't love about Sheila and James' home. The location is great and easy to get to when you're driving. The house is just gorgeous and in a lovely complex with friendly security. I loved the pool and outdoor area, everything is really comfortable.
Sheila kept in great contact to answer questions and gave us some fab recommendations for things to do and places to go. Thank you for your lovely gifts on arrival.
Tulum is so worth a visit. There's so much to do that you could stay longer. We asked if we could stay an extra night and Sheila was generous in saying yes. The area is accessible to so many things and has lots to offer. I highly recommend a visit to Tulum and stay at Sheila's.
Thank you for such kind words I only wish we had been able to meet joe this time but I’m sure our paths will cross again
Sara, Eric and Hanna were very gracious to travel so far to sit our dogs for 2 weeks over Christmas while we were in Mexico. They were patient with the pups when they played them up and kept in regular contact with myself and my friend Lynn who helped out. They were also very understanding when our dogs unexpectedly caught fleas for the first time ever. How embarrassing. But the family washed bedding etc and followed advice and really helped us out by helping the pups to get better. Communication was great and regular. It meant a lot to us to have you here. Thank you so much
Mélody and family looked after our home really well and were good enough to strip the beds the day they left. I really wish we had been able to meet but we've text a lot and will stay in touch I hope. I can't wait to visit Mélody's home in future and am glad I could offer you a base to visit Belfast.
We loved spending a week in Sarah and Matt's house. Sarah was very kind in picking us up at the airport when our plans fell through for transport, and also allowed my sister and partner to join us on the exchange.
We loved looking after the family pets and miss Little Winston already.
The home was big, comfy, homely and has a great back garden. Walking distance to the village and pubs to eat / drink in plus to Newmarket and other surrounding towns. We managed to see so many lovely places!
I wouldn't hesitate to exchange with Sarah again as we both feel like there's still so much to see in each others areas
I was so delighted to finally meet Michael and Clara. Michael and I have chatted for approx 18 months so this felt like meeting someone who was already a friend.
They took great care of our home but more importantly they loved our dogs and treated them like the queens they are in our home. We so appreciate Michael and Clara being here while we were on a non- sim exchange.
I very much hope to meet again and you're welcome to Belfast any time
It was so much fun to meet Pauline, Milanda and Cameron. I wish I could have spent more time with them but really happy to have spent a bit of time chatting and getting to know each other and delighted we could provide a base for their epic trip home. Someday I hope to see them again on their side of the world. They generously looked after our dogs for a couple of days at the end of their exchange while we were at a festival, and looked after our home throughout their stay.
Ruth and Simon were perfect guests. The house was in perfect condition on our return and they were so thoughtful in leaving us lovely gifts. They also brought their own towels so I didn't come home to start washing them all. Ruth and I talked a lot in the months leading up to the exchange and so I felt very
comfortable having she and Simon in our home. I was lucky to get the chance to meet them briefly for coffee and tray bakes. Looking forward to our part of the exchange next Easter
Sheila and James looked after our home brilliantly. I was also so delighted to get to meet them at the end of their week. I just know we would share travel stories for days. Sheila kept in touch throughout and our home and plants were well cared for. I can't wait for our end of the exchange and hope to see you both again
Jeanine
Sarah, Matthew and their 2 girls looked after our home really well but more importantly they were fab with our dogs. They voluntarily took them everywhere with them in the car and generally fell in love with them, which put our minds at ease. We are so appreciative of them staying with our pups while we were away.
Sarah was really easy to chat to and organise everything with and now we can't wait to go and stay in their home in the summer and meet all their pets!
Linda's home is spacious, bright, homely, comfortable and cosy. We loved it from the second we walked in. It's about a 20 min walk to town and easily drivable to loads of local attractions and beaches. A great central point from which to discovery West Cork. Clonakilty is a great little town with so much in it. We enjoyed wandering the streets and trying out the local shops and pubs. We would love to go back when more is open in season but we weren't short of many things to occupy us despite it being February. One of the highlights is Smokey the cat. We're sorry we didn't get to meet the dog also as I'm mad about dogs but meeting Smokey definitely kept us entertained. Thanks for exchanging with us and here's hoping we might do it again someday. And thanks again for the lovely cheese and the gift on arrival home
We arrived back to our home in great condition. Its always good to know your house has been in good hands. Communication with Linda was easy. I highly recommend exchanging with she and her family.
Fabien, Eurydice and their parents / parents in law were great guests. They took great care of our beloved dogs and our home. Communication was fab. In fact in the last few weeks I've probably text Fabien more than my own husband or best friend 🙃 so I feel like he and his family are friends now, more than just exchange partners. Fabien is really open to helping with answering questions, and in generally trying to make your experience great. This was a fab exchange that we thoroughly enjoyed.
Fabien and Eurydice's home is in a quaint little place, in the countryside side and away from hustle and bustle. Their house is a really good size with huge garden. The house is comfortable, homely and welcoming. It has a country cottage feel despite its size. We felt right at home here. Our stay was made all the more enjoyable thanks to their cats Volo and Neo. Neo is nervous so it felt like winning the lottery when he trusted us enough to join us on the sofa. Volo is independent and knows how to tell you what he wants. Lovely cats.
Fabien's home is walking distance into the little village and a short drive from the next bigger town, train station and supermarkets. We exchanged cars quick was fab and allowed us to get around easily.
I would definitely recommend staying in their home.
Communication was easy and regular, especially when we had questions about the house. The family left our home spotless and stripped the beds.
Kryzstof's home is lovely, spacious, clean, comfortable and cosy. We really enjoyed our long weekend here. He's right beside a huge park to walk the dogs. There's a supervalu at the top of the street and bus stop into town. He's really close to the M50 to go to other parts in and outside of Dublin. Lovely quiet area. I thoroughly recommend a stay in Kryzstof's home and we really appreciated being able to have our dogs with us while their dog Cookie stayed at ours with the family.
Sarah left our house pristine. I'm so glad we got to be her first exchange!
Though this exchange was closer to home, it still felt like having a mini break beside the seaside. Sarah has a beautiful, spacious, cosy, bright home and we felt so comfortable staying there. We met her lovely mum who lives across the street. The location is fab, near town, the beach, Groomsport and Donaghadee. So many places nearby to see and spend time at. Nothing is far away. It was also fab to be able to bring our dogs for the weekend and Sarah was really accommodating and let my niece and her kids stay, who also enjoyed their stay. We were actually sad to leave! I highly recommend an exchange with Sarah. This part of Northern Ireland is full of rugged beauty and Bangor has a nice vibe to it for visitors.
Thanks so much for your kind words Jeanine and Joe it was a pleasure to swap with you guys and come back to a pristine house. I’m so glad that my first exchange experience was with you and you have certainly given me the exchange bug to do it all again!
I had a great week hosting Tina and Matthew and their lovely girls. They were respectful of my home and great with our dogs. It was lovely to chat and learn about each other and to make new friends. Tina sells St Louis really well and I can't wait to visit. I enjoyed giving them an opportunity to see more of Belfast and Northern Ireland.
What a lovely way to make new friends and learn new things. I thoroughly enjoyed hosting Karen and getting to know her. It was a lot of fun. Karen was very respectful of my home and of my friends place which we stayed in for 3 nights. My two pups gave her instant approval also 😄
Jennifer and her family left our home spotless. It was so nice to meet her on zoom before hand and communication was great. I'm so glad I could offer some time in my home, I only wish it could have been longer for them. They left me some lovely maple syrup as a treat. Delighted.
We couldn't have asked for a better first exchange. Aoife and David and their children are lovely. Communication was great both before and during the exchange. They wanted to spend the weekend with our pups and looked after them brilliantly, including them in everything they did. I think the dogs were sad to see the kids leave and us come home haha. They also looked after our home really well.
Their home in Dublin is perfect. Great location, lovely area, great size of house and garden and really comfy. We felt right at home and it was nice to be in a house that felt like a family home rather than somewhere impersonal. Aoife and David were on hand for any questions and provided us with lots of info and recommendations. I thoroughly recommend exchanging with them and hope we will do so again in the future. Jeanine and Joe (and Bailey and Darcy)
As mentioned above Aoife and David and their kids looked after our home and dogs brilliantly. We can't fault a thing. They even left our bedding out to dry which made life easier for us. Thanks!

Jeanine & Joe
Hi there. I'm Jeanine and my hubby is called Joe. I'm in my mid 40s and Joe is 50. I'm an avid traveler who drags my hubby along on my coat tails as he's a bit more of a home bird who takes a little more convincing to travel.
We live in a lovely community in Belfast surrounded by really nice neighbours. I would literally go anywhere, including close to home. I want to visit 50 countries before I am 50 years old. I am currently 45 years old and on 45 countries. Thanks to exchanging, by late 2025 I'll have increased that number to the magic number 50 if all goes well..... and maybe I'll aim for 60 countries for my 50th birthday then!
At home we have two very cute pups called Bailey and Darcy. Bailey is a 5 year old Lhasa apso and Darcy is a 4 year old mixed breed (mum is bichon and dad is half yorkie half Lhasa). We are willing to exchange with folks who have animals. I have 20 plus years experience in having dogs and am just crazy about them so really willing to look after your pups if you can also look after ours. We've developed a love of cats thanks to exchanging. Other animals also a possibility. Our dogs don't really enjoy being sent away to other's houses so if an exchange is simultaneous we would really appreciate our pups being able to stay home. They need short walks twice per day and can be left for approx 5-6 hours while you sightsee so they aren't very restrictive to your plans. Or of course you can bring them with you.
We are both very respectful, clean and tidy and will treat your home with respect. I adore this site and love that people want to visit Belfast. We bought a touring caravan in April 2021 due to lack of travelling thanks to covid so when we're not travelling we'll spend a lot of weekends in it, meaning we can host you in our home for a couple of nights if you're coming through Belfast.
