Hello, we are a family of four: married h/w and 16 y/o b/g twins (2025). We love to travel all over the world but in the last decade have had health challenges that have kept us closer to home. We traveled a lot before kids, but are prioritizing it more now. Duane is in the film industry (previz, and animation), is a former professional trumpet player, and Elizabeth (Libby) is a former critical care RN. We have lived for six months at a time in Budapest, New Orleans, Vancouver, Toronto and outside Atlanta, for work. We look forward to connecting with members, welcoming you to our home, and experiencing your unique corners of the world. We joined PLU in 2020 during the pandemic, when we were living in urban Los Angeles (we miss our lovingly-restored 1913 Craftsman!) -- but are now living on two acres in rural Oregon (Forest Grove, 30 minutes west of Portland). (This particular move is in part thanks to a connection with a PLU member!) We moved here in late 2021 and have been busy getting horses, chickens, gardens, and ourselves situated, and learning the land and new rhythms. We have yet to list our new property (that includes a 1914 modernized home, a large barn/garage with a climbing wall and a sleeping loft and den for kiddos to hang out, as well as beautiful views of the open farmland around us, and plenty of fresh eggs) --- but will be doing that very soon! Please inquire if you'd like photos, or more info -- we will be ready to have people stay here by November 2025, when we next take a big trip. Would love to do short-term local exchanges too. We can also host people, depending on the time of year, in the barn/garage loft and den, or you could camp out (we have tents, pads, sleeping bags) in the pasture, while we are home. We do have a cat and two dogs that live in our home (only one is hypoallergenic), but the cat never goes into the loft or den, and the dogs rarely do. There is a lot of hay in the barn/garage, if you are sensitive.
