We have a comfortable family home, four blocks to the Long Island Rail Road, with a 35-minute train ride into midtown Manhattan or a 15-minute train ride to Long Beach. It's a 20 - 35 minute drive to a choice of beautiful beaches on the south shore of Long Island (Lido Beach, Lido West, Point Lookout, Jones Beach). We have a cable package with all the popular channels, as well as Acorn, Amazon Prime, and Roku. We can add channels to the package.
Although close to Manhattan, our home offers a quiet and safe respite from the city. There's a deck and a quiet, shady yard. I work from home and we have a bright, sunny office with two desks set up for working remotely and for Zoom meetings.
There's no need for a car. We're a short walk into town, with a selection of restaurants, pubs, a movie theatre, and shops. You can walk to the train, which can take you to Manhattan, the beach, or even to the East End of Long Island (Hamptons, Montauk, etc.) But if you want to rent a car, there are 2 car rental agencies within walking distance. We might consider a car exchange.
We have a pack-n-play crib (cot), baby gates, and a high chair, for our grandchildren, that you are very welcome to use.
What you will love about this neighborhood
Quiet, safe neighborhood, ten-minute walk (or less) to town, with restaurants, shops, and multiplex movie theatre.
New York City has something for everyone: museums, galleries, shows, restaurants, shopping. In Central Park you can stroll, rent bikes or rowboats, visit the children's zoo and the many playgrounds, or - my favorite - sit and people-watch. You can walk the High Line, visit the South Street Seaport, or see the new One World Trade Center, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Times Square, Little Italy, Chelsea, Soho... Each neighborhood in New York is like a little city in itself. When you're tired of walking, there are a variety of boat tours and cruises you can take.
You can spend a day at the beach, rent jet skis and kayaks nearby or take surfing lessons. We'll leave you everything you need for a day at the beach - towels, totes, cooler, umbrella, chairs, sunhats, boogie boards.
If you can't decide on which type of vacation to take - a restful beach escape, or an exciting city trip - here, you can have both.
Easy access to eastern Long Island - Montauk, the Hamptons, Sag Harbor.
