General overview
We named our 1907 home after a young girl named Daisy who lived in the house in 1912. Daisy placed a time capsule in the wall that was discovered during renovations over a century later.
Our home, Daisy's Place, is completely renovated from top to bottom resulting in early 1900's charm combined with modern comfort and convenience.
The home boasts a large and comfortable front porch with a beautiful outdoor space to relax in (BBQ, fire table, sofa & chairs, garden views).
Another bonus - We also have a 2 person infrared sauna in the second bedroom that is available for your use, as well as a 6 jet jacuzzi tub in the ensuite bathroom.
The space
The kitchen has full size stainless steel appliances including a gas stove, a breakfast bar, and all the amenities you would need. It opens up to a large dining room with seating for six.
The master bedroom has its own lovely ensuite bath with jacuzzi tub.
The front bedroom has a super comfortable queen size sofa bed with Temper-Pedic mattress.
There is also a small separate den with a desk and a comfortable office chair - the perfect work from home space.
Guest access
There are 6 steps to get onto the front porch, but once through the front door the home is all on one level. Touch pad entry - you will be given your own entry code upon arrival.
Notes
Our home is dog friendly. No cats are permitted though as one of us has significant allergic reaction to cat hair,
One dog only is permitted upon prior approval.
Before you arrive the entire home will be cleaned and sanitized. We also provide extra cleaning supplies so you can clean as you stay.

Neighbourhood
Our street and neighbourhood have a very quiet small town feel, yet you can walk to the core of downtown Victoria in 10-15 minutes.
We are only one block to picturesque Beacon Hill Park.
Renowned BC artist, Emily Carr, lived and grew up just around the corner from us. Visitors are welcome to tour the 1863 Carr family home and grounds.
Our home is also a short walk of a few blocks to Dallas Road with ocean views, beaches, & The Breakwater. Fisherman's Wharf is also nearby.
From Daisy’s Place it is just over a 10 minute walk to the historic Inner Harbour, the Parliament Buildings, the Royal BC Museum, the Empress Hotel, & all other downtown offerings.
Victoria’s famous Butchart Gardens is a 30-40 minute drive away, but you can also take a bus there from downtown.
Getting to my home
Victoria is on Vancouver Island. To get to the Island you will need to either fly into Victoria’s airport or take the ferry from Vancouver (leaving from the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal on the main land and arriving at the Swartz Bay Terminal on the island). The ferry runs multiple times a day in both directions, is a 1.5 hour trip, and you can either walk on or drive on (if driving on go online to reserve ahead of time in order to guarantee a spot). Both the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal and the airport are about a 30 minute drive from our home. Once at the airport or the ferry terminal drive down the Pat Bay Hwy until you get into the city, turn right on Finlayson St and then left on Douglas St, continue on Douglas through the city center, and then turn right on Beacon St. Beacon is only 1 block long and St Andrews St and our home are right in front of you when you get to the end of Beacon.
There are public transit buses that go to and from both the airport and the ferry terminal. Both take over an hour to get to/from the last stop in town which is a 10 minute walk from our home.
Nearest airport
Victoria International Airport YYJ is a 30 minute drive from our home.
Getting around
Daisy’s Place is very well situated in a very walkable neighbourhood with many public transit routes within a block or 2 that will take you to all parts of the city.
James Bay Village with 2 grocery stores, liquor store, and plenty of cafe and dinning options is 4 blocks away
What a wonderful stay at Karen and Paul's beautiful heritage home. They were so easy to communicate with and their home is modern and welcoming but with all the charm still of its past.
I was footsteps from all the best parts of downtown Victoria and easily walked to the Parliment, had high tea at the Empress Hotel, did a horse-drawn carriage ride through Beacon Hill Park and had my cartoon portrait done in the inner harbour. My favourite activity was the little harbour tour boat ride! After supper, it was so nice to not have to worry about car parking or taking transit to just walk back home. The neighbourhood was quiet and I felt very safe.
It was so lovely to meet Karen and Paul and I feel that we have become exchange friends now! I look forward to the chance to get to exchange with them again in the future.
The pleasant things:
- Paul & Karen took care of the house which was made very clean
- They were kind throughout the exchange process.
The more difficult things
- I left my job to welcome them but they were not there. I wish they had told me that they had a setback and that they would arrive 2 hours after the appointment instead of leaving me waiting unnecessarily.
- Plan to leave them the instructions for use of the appliances because they did not know that the dryer filters had to be emptied.
- The weather was very nice, there was no need to waste electricity, the laundry could dry quickly on the drying rack in the open air. I was surprised that they wanted to use the dryer.
It was a good experience apart from those little things.
Karen and Paul (and their adorable pup, Laddie) were perfect guests. They were so easy to communicate with and they left my home in perfect condition after they left. I would be happy to exchange with them again any time!
Nathalie’s place in Mèze was spacious and well located. It has an excellent kitchen. The stairs leading to the 4th bedroom were very precarious however. Also, it was not possible to locate the garage mentioned in the ad,and nothing was said to us about this. Both the dishwasher and the clothes dryer were difficult to navigate and we could not get either one to function properly. In in end, we had a lovely stay.
Kristy’s place was awesome! Very comfortable with everything needed conveniently available. Great location ….. close to Vernon, skiing, and lots of nature walks at our doorstep.
Kristy was a great guest. She was quiet and most respectful of our space and our neighbours. She left the home in perfect order. Thanks Kristy.

Paul & Karen
We are a semi retired couple in our 60’s. Karen is a retired public school teacher & Paul is a semi retired advertising copywriter/researcher. We enjoy regular walks in the lovely nearby Beacon Hill Park, along the many neighbouring beaches, along the walkways overlooking the Straits of Juan de Fuca, and to areas around Victoria’s picturesque Inner Harbour. Besides travel to new and interesting places, or return trips to places we have already been, our interests include local history, exploring our community, cooking, motorcycling, golfing, reading, music, and live theatre. We also love live concerts and connecting with family & friends.
"Prefer longer simultaneous exchanges of 1-3 months. Will be travelling with a very well behaved dog."
