Neighbourhood

Once the heart of the city's Italian and Jewish communities, this district is now a multilingual mixture of Hasidim and hipsters, with local band Arcade Fire providing the soundtrack. Mile End is a hip, laid-back area with an artsy vibe and multicultural roots. Old-school bagel shops, Greek eateries and Italian cafes mix with stylish restaurants and buzzing brunch spots. Indie shops selling records, books and vintage clothes are found throughout the area, especially on Rue Bernard. Coffee shops draw daytime crowds, while cocktail bars, music venues and brewpubs make up the lively nightlife.

Getting around

There is a SAQ (liquor store) and a coffee shop (claiming to have the best latte in Montreal) downstair. There is a great supermarket across the street with all you need to cook a simple meal or a 5-curse dinner. Two minutes away you will find a pharmacy. Multiple restaurants, bars, shops, parks and cafes are all within walking distance. The 80 bus stops right in front of the building which will bring you in less than 15 minutes to downtown. The 55 bus is just a 5-minute walk away and will bring you in less than 15 minutes to downtown and in 15 minutes to Old Montreal, just besides Notre Dame basilica. Montreal is a great city for biking and you can use my bike during your stay.
