General overview

Our house feels like being in the country but is right inside the city. The yard is 1.25 acres and has a huge backyard with swings, fire pit, bbq, picnic table, deck, and screened in patio. You can often see deer and other wildlife hanging out in the yard. Crossing the small creek in the back yard, leads to Walnut Creek Park, which is a huge 293 acre metro park with a paved trail that connects to two other city parks with public pools both an easy bike ride away as there is no vehicle traffic on the paths. The park also has a vast network of dirt trails for hiking mountain biking, etc. We are in Austin, and it's easy to enjoy all of Austin as well as the Hill Country.

The space

Two kids bedrooms and one full bathroom downstairs. Twin bunk beds in one room, queen bed in the other. Kitchen and living room are also downstairs. Upstairs has a very large master suite with a Purple brand king bed as well as little loft office space. There is also a detached office behind the garage (currently set up as a classroom). There is Wifi in the house and office.

Guest access

There are a couple of stairs required to get up to the ground floor. Inside the house is hardwood floors throughout.

Notes

The little above ground pool to the side of the house is only up during the summer. We have a hot tub for the winter.

Neighbourhood

The house is at the end of a very quite circle/cul-de-sac. There are a handful of restaurants within walking distance. Within a 5-10 minute drive there is pretty much anything you need. There are 2 large US grocery stores (HEB and Whole Foods) as well as several international ones, dozens more bars, restaurants and craft breweries, movie theaters, Top Golf, an outdoor mall (The Domain), big box stores etc. Austin FC stadium is 1.5 miles away.

Nearest airport

Austin International Airport

Getting around

The house is about 30 minutes from the airport. Taxi/Uber/Lyft is probably the best way to get here, although with several transfers it is probably possible to do it by bus. Downtown Austin bills itself as "the live music capital of the world" and is about a 20 minute drive without traffic. Ladybird Lake winds through downtown, you can rent kayaks and paddle boards, and see the bats come out from under the Congress street bridge at sunset. The Howard metro rail stop is 3.5 miles away and can also take you to downtown. There is a pickup shuttle that you can call that will pick you up at the house and bring you anywhere in the neighborhood (including the metro stop) for $1.25 https://www.capmetro.org/pickup/ We are also open to exchanging vehicles we have a Honda Odyssey mini van and an Acura RDX. There are lots of great day trips. Lake Travis and Lake Austin are about 30 minutes away you can swim or rent a boat and fish, water ski wakeboard, etc. Fredericksburg is about 1.5 hours west and has lots of great wineries. 1.5 hours to the south, The San Marcos River, Comal, and Guadalupe Rivers are great way to cool off in the summer. You can rent an inner tube and have a leisurely scenic float down the river with the beverages of your choice, and then get picked up and taken back at the end.
