Neighbourhood

Immenstaad is a seaside town (6000 inhabitants) on the shores of Lake Constance (Bodensee, Lake Constance) in Baden-Württemberg, southern Germany. The area is breathtakingly beautiful, probably one of the most beautiful landscapes in Europe. We are walking distance from the supermarket, bakeries and other shops. Two world class restaurants on either side of town are 5 minutes on foot, also the center with small harbour and pier. Everything you need is walkable Close to the Alps, amid wineries, rolling hills, quaint towns, not to mention the lake. The lake is great for swimming and all kinds of water sports. You can borrow kayaks and canoes on our beach. We have a SUP that you can use. A yacht club not far from us rents sailing and motor boats, as a guest you do not need a special license! Visit the island of Mainau (also known as the flower island), we are close to Munich, Bavaria (2 hours drive) and Zurich, Switzerland 1.5 hours. The city of Stuttgart is a 1.5-hour drive away. Visit the famous Neuschwanstein Castle (which Disney used a prototype for Cinderella's Castle) in Füssen, Bavaria (approximately 2 hours). Several other ancient castles can be visited from our area on day trips. The medieval castle in Meersburg is in the next town on the lake and Sigmaringen castle is about 45 minutes away. The nearest airport is Zurich International Airport or fly via Frankfurt to Friedrichshafen (8 km from Immenstaad). Stuttgart or Munich airports are also possible. Our town is a favorite holiday spot for Germans, very lively in the summer, but since our house is located on a cul-de-sac, it is wonderfully quiet. The pebble beach (free access) is only 2 minutes walk from our house. The view from the lake is of the Swiss mountains and simply breathtaking. A lakeside indoor swimming pool with access to the beach and all facilities incl. playground and outdoor paddling pool is 2 minutes further down the coast. Immenstaad city has a shopping street and 2 supermarkets, nice restaurants and bakeries that are also open on Sunday morning for fresh bread! It is a nice, cozy village with a good atmosphere. Hiking in the area behind the lake is recommended; also a great area for cycling. The cycling tour around the lake is famous! Many excursions and day trips can be made in the area; by car (car exchange negotiable), by bus, train or boat. Bavaria, Switzerland and Austria are very close. We leave all the necessary info in the house. For information on what the area has to offer, take a look at the following websites: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Constance http://www.bodensee.eu/ http://en.immenstaad-tourismus.de/ http://www.festspielhausbregenz.at/en/festival-house/
