Happy to meet up for coffee etc or even show visitors a few of the must do sights if time permits.
Our third stay with Dave and Sheree.
Again, their generosity, kindness and hospitality shines through. It was comforting to be in familiar surroundings, and delightful to have such a lovely place to stay, treats included.
Feeding the birds was fun too.
We highly recommend exchanging with Dave & Sheree! Dave & Sheree, thank you for opening your beautiful home to us.
We really enjoyed our stay. The location was excellent; being so close to the RiverCat and train line made getting around the sights of Brisbane a breeze. Our kids especially loved the stunning garden oasis. Feeding the local birds was a highlight for them. We enjoyed the generous date loaf and other welcome goodies too! The beds were incredibly comfy and Dave & Sheree’s downstairs apartment had everything we could need.
More than anything, it was Dave & Sheree’s warm hospitality, local tips and generosity that made our short stay special. They are both so kind, interesting, welcoming, and wonderfully PLU, it felt like staying with old friends. We're very grateful and we hope we can meet again someday!
Sal & Dave
If there was an award for the kindest PLU hosts, Dave and Sheree would certainly deserve it! From the moment we arrived, helping with our bags, making us a cup of tea on their lovely balcony and showing us around the neighborhood to cooking dinner for us on our 1st night.... Then throughout our stay sharing tips and ideas, coming to let our girls know when they were feeding the birds, having a picnic together at a beautiful spot near the city etc. They have been so lovely with our 6 and 8 year old, Sheree was great with being tested on their teddies names!
They have honestly made our stay in Brisbane such a wonderful one!
Not only that though, their apartment is a perfect space, especially the outdoor undercover patio that gets the beautiful morning sun. The girls loved exploring the little garden paths too.
It's so conveniently close for the city (5 min walk to the train line and 15mkns into the city) but you wouldn't know it sat out in their lovely garden! It's a perfect combination of ease and tranquility.
We've loved exploring Brisbane and the surrounds.... The cultural centre, museum, library, GOMA and QAG, a footy match, Bluey world, a morning walk up Mount Coot Tha and exploring the Glasshouse Mountains....we can all recommend! We are not usually huge city people, but Brisbane has certainly made us question that with its ease of getting around (50c train rides!) and lots to see yet not being hugely overcrowded and busy, with lovely green spaces both in and out of the city.
Swapping with Dave and Sheree is the perfect tri-factor.... Wonderful hosts, wonderful home, wonderful location 😊.... You should definitely see for yourselves!
Me and my friend were very spoiled to be staying in Dave and Sheree’s cute walkout apartment with wonderful views of the garden and all the birds.
They are the most lovely and generous people. They helped us out and showed us around, hosted us on the wonderful deck for happy hour, dinner and bird feeding.
When cyclone Albert changed our travel plans, they generously offered us to extend our stay.
It’s the people that makes an experience memorable and this stay was one of those. Dave and Sheree were so welcoming it felt like we have been friends forever
A beautiful and spacious apartment on the lower level of Dave and Sheree's house. Everything you ever thought you needed has been provided plus more! A comfy bed with nice linen with so much more; fresh flowers from the fabulous and beautiful garden, an extraordinarily generous selection of food and wine, transport cards, the list goes on. But on top of that is the absolute pleasure of meeting Dave and Sheree who were kind enough to invite us for dinner after a long drive. Delicious food offered and so easy to chat to. Such a fun night.
Many, many thanks. You offered us the most perfect hospitality stay.
Staying with Dave and Sheree was our first time using People Like Us, and what a wonderful experience it was.
Dave and Sheree have a beautiful property in a lovely neighbourhood in Brisbane, which is conveniently located.
The apartment was perfect for us as a family with three young children, with a well-equipped kitchen that Dave and Sheree had kindly provisioned with lots of food (including very tasty brownies!).
The garden is a particular highlight and is full of nature, including lorikeets and cockatoos that our children were delighted to see up close and even feed by hand.
Dave and Sheree were patient and kind, particularly with the kids, and went above and beyond what could reasonably be expected from a host, giving us great tips as to what to see, and even inviting us to a picnic by the river.
I can honestly say that Dave and Sheree are the perfect hosts, and we look forward to seeing them in Sardegna
Our second stay at Dave and Sheree's place was just as good as the first.
Their flat is a well equipped place with every thing you might need, and a surprise of delightful home baked goodies thrown in, too.
The garden is lovely, and we enjoyed the daily feeding of the lorikeets too, they love grapes and blueberries, cut in half, of course.
Their kindness and generous spirit shines through with every thing they provided, and everything they did for us.
We loved our second time here, and can strongly recommend a stay here if you get the opportunity.
Many thanks once again to Dave and Sheree
Our first PLU experience as visitors was absolutely perfect!
We stayed in Dave and Sheree’s beautiful 3 bed apartment below their home in a great area of Brisbane. We were 5 mins walk from the local shops and train station and about 15 mins into the city. There was so much to do for our 8 and 6 year olds, lots of it free, and Dave and Sheree are lovely people who were so welcoming and helpful.
They lent us a rucksack and Go transport cards, stocked the fridge and cooked us some amazing food. my daughters loved feeding rainbow lorikeets with them and searching for lizards in their stunning garden (in fact my eldest said that was the best thing about Brisbane!)
We had (mainly) beautiful weather, patted kangaroos at Australia Zoo, climbed a beautiful glass house mountain, went to Redcliffe market and the Queensland museum (their spark lab is up there with London science Museum!) and swam at the famous Streets Beach on the South Bank.
We went to an incredible, cheap public pool with water slides 10 mins walk from the apartment and enjoyed the river boats, wheel, and Brisbanes cool, colourful, modern architecture and murals. Oh and not to forget Eat Street- live music, a great atmosphere and more food trucks than you could ever need!
People were so friendly wherever we went.
If you get the chance to visit Brisbane, particularly with kids, please take it! And if Dave and Sherees place is free, you won’t do better than that. Thanks again guys and hope to see you in Sydney some time!
Dave and Sheree agreed to a short notice Globe exchange at their place, for which we are very grateful.
We were warmly welcomed on such a hot day, with cold drinks and cake, much appreciated after the long drive.
Their place is very well equipped, every thing from large towels to food in the fridge and pantry, bus cards, even a teapot for our teabags. We felt immediately at home and comfortable. Dave and Sheree spoiled us with home baked goodies, too.
We looked out over the garden, which was a visual delight, lovely and interesting plants to look at, a visual feast for the eyes.
Local shops and cafes are within an easy walk.
Their kindness and attention to detail, the many generous touches (TimTams! ), their helpful attitude, all went to make this a marvellous stay, definitely deserving a title of “superhosts”.
Their generous spirit shines through with every thing they provided, and everything they did for us.
We loved our time here, and can strongly recommend a stay here if you get the opportunity.
Many thanks to Dave and Sheree.
I was fortunate enough to have a hospitality stay at Dave and Sheree's. Their apartment is perfect. The only comment I had when Dave asked for feedback was to add instructions for the coffee machine. I couldn't figure it out. That being said they had instant coffee packets that magically turned into lattes, so I was not stressed about it at all. And frankly, just kept forgetting to ask how do use it. The kitchen was so well stocked, far beyond what I expected. There was literally nothing else I would do to make it a better apartment...and he's adding the coffee machine, instructions to the book, so problem solved!
When you walk out of the apartment, you walk out to Sheree's gorgeous garden and tons and tons of wild birds flying around. Dave had me upstairs to feed the lorikeets out of my hand and other birds that flew by for a visit. Sheree was out of town, but I did get to spend a bit of time with Dave. He is a really great guy with awesome taste in music, and an awesome tour guide. They have a full and complete manual with different ideas of things to do in and around Brisbane. They even have a train card, all prepped and ready for you and all you have to do is refill it before you leave, saving you $10 setting up a brand new card. Dave was great about communicating before I arrived and I felt so welcome to the big beautiful basket of Australian goodies upon arrival.
Another PLU success and I highly recommend coming here for a visit if you get the chance.
During my amazing trip in Australia I started my line of exchanges with Dave and Shereex. I had two nights in their lovely and very spacey basement flat before we headed of two our camping adventure in Fraser Island (another previous review).
After my two nights hospitality stay with Sandra Clarke in Chuwar, Dave kindly picked me up there and we went to their home for a coffee before Dave again very kindly was dropiing me off at my last exchange in nearby Kedron.
While about to et ready to head out the door I get a message from my next host that she has just tested positive with COVID! Ooops, not so lucky so in my moment of panic, I ask Dave and Sheree if I could stay with them.
And despite the moment of surprise and short notice (!) they said yes!
Thanks to their kind and generous nature and personalities, the issue was solved within 30 seconds or so <3
I feel very lucky that they kindly openend their home (again) to me in this urgent situaion and not only did they let me stay the extra five nights before me flight back to Denmark, they also took super good care of me.
Dave had business up the sunshine cost so he brough me and dropped me off at Mooloolaba for at day out beach bumming - a really lovely day with the value added bonus of finding a little brewery and seeing a carpet snake!
The flat I stayed in is quite perfect weather you travel solo as me or come as a family as it has three bedroom and a pretty large bathroom with shower. The kitchen had everything I needed for the cooking I got around to while there, a big dining table, lounge area and big doors out to the shaded patio with access to Sherees nice garden. I sat there for reading, writing postcards and snacks - just brilliant.
The apartment has its own entrance door, so one can stay completely private if so as the washer and dryer are also downstairs.
I was however, lucky enough to enjoy both coffee, meals and five o'clock snacks with Dave and Sheree not to forget sweet little Greta, the dachshound.
It was such a pleasure hanging out with them and it's a definite 5 star review from me, which goes for both my first stay with them including the camping trip as well as this "life saving" situation.
If you get the opportunity, then I highly recommend to exchange with these guys, you will get the best service and exchange partners, so go for it!
I certainly hope to return to Australia and meet them again - thank you so much for saving my butt and showing me an awesome time <3
This exchange has been long in the making as COVID got in the way for my trip back in 2020.
But, all good comes to (s)he who waits 😉
The exchange with Dave and Sheree was a bit different as they had offered to take me camping to Fraser, which I happily agreed to!
They are experienced campers and they took care of everything, so all was prepped and ready for my arrival in Brisbane.
Dave kindly picked me up at the airport and they treated me to a lovely dinner Nd treats as well.
Then off to Fraser we went, catching the barge at Rainbow Beach.
Pictures and videos of Fraser Island doesn’t really do it justice! It was magic, magnificent and with stunning scenery of so many kinds.
Dave had booked us into a beach campsite at Dundabara as it is fenced in to keep dingos out.
He and Sheree really are pro campers and had everything set up in no time. I had a tent and they slept in their trailer camper and we were cooking on the camping kitchen in the back of the trailer.
Also very reassuring to have an experienced driver behind the wheel as it takes some skills to drive in sand/dunes. We saw more than one car being bogged or towed…
Based on our previous chats, they had made a great inteniary to ensure I got to see some of the best spots that Fraser Island has to offer, including Eli Creek, Wathumba, Champagne Pools, Lake McKenzie, the Maheno ship wreck, looooooong stretches of beach driving and a night at central Station camp site in the rain forest part of the island and plenty of native wild life.
I loved every minute of the trip to Fraser with Dave and Sheree and are ever so grateful that they took me there, planning everything from A-Z as they dropped me off at Kingfisher Bay for my crossing to Riverheads for my next exchange.
It was so nice and good fun to sit around the camp at night, enjoying a cold beer or wine, roasting marshmallows, chatting and joking around - lots of good laughs. One evening we went to the beach and enjoyed a drink, cheese and crackers and a dingo pup came to say hello!!
I cannot thank you guys enough for treating me to this amazing experience, It was FANTASTIC! And then to do such a trip at such a good price as we shared expenses, I could never have done this by myself.
My highest recommendations to exchange with these guys, they are wonderful!
Can’t wait to see you both again for the PLU meet up in Brisbane soon 🇩🇰🇦🇺
Beautiful and big house, good location and very good people. We warmly recommend them as hosts.
Beautiful and big house, good location and very good people. We warmly recommend them as hosts.
Dave and Sheree were wonderful guests. They left my home spotless and communication was great throughout. They left me a wonderful gift from Aus, took great care of my plants and i arrived home to a wonderful card which is always lovely.
It was a pleasure to return the swap for Dave and Sheree. They were just as fantastic as guests as they were as hosts. They took great care of our home, we even saw a pic of Sheree doing some gardening for us! Thank you!
We have absolutely loved getting to know them, we would happily host or swap with Dave and Sheree again, infact we plan to keep in touch and visit them again soon!
Such lovely guests and hosts 💕
They were the best guests, we had a super funny and lovely time with them, it was a pleasure to have them. The left the house spotless.
Looking forward to seeing them again and they can come back anytime they want!
Dave and Sheree were the nicest guests!!!
Spending some time with them was absolutely lovely as they are so much fun and interesting.
They left the house spotless, and the kitchen was somehow tidier than before.
We really recommend them and we are looking forward to seeing them in Australia!!!
Dave and Sheree stayed in our apartment in Montgat in May 2024. We had a very pleasant and easy communication before and during our globe exchange .
They took care of the apartment during their stay and left everything clean and tidy. Perfect guests!!
We truly enjoyed having Dsve & Sheree as guests. Although we weren't able to meet in person the communication was always quick and so friendly. We had great conversations which I hope we can continue when we visit them in Aus! They looked after our home like it was their own and it would be our pleasure to have them back anytime!
Dave and Sheree are excellent guests. Communication was easy from the beginning. They were helpfull and "uncomplicated" with the cats.
They invited us for dinner, were very open and curious about local food and wanted to try codfish!!
We had such a nice and funny evening.
Our home was spotless when we arrived and we had a bonus of australian gifts!!
We totally recommend hosting David and Sheree. Your home (and pets) Will be in good hands.
We too hope to meet again one day in Australia and wish them all the best till then.
I hosted Dave and Sheree for a little weeks time, but I wish they could have stayed longer!
They are such a sweet, nice and funny couple and we had a great time. Normally I stay downstairs in my self-contained basement apartment when I host, but truth to be told I spent hours upstairs with Dave and Sheree when I came home from work as they would invite me to come hang out with them.
We could sit and talk for hours about eveything and nothing, it was such a pleasure and good fun.
Dave is also super helpful and basicallt told me to work out my dates to come to Australia and he'd help me plan my entire trip - he's an ocean of knowledge!
He actually did exactly that! I was supposed to go Down Under October 2020, but due to COVED-19.... :-(
However, he/we had planned a camping trip to Fraser Island and other great activities during my stay with them in QLD.
We still keep in touch regularly and I just know that when I can finally start planning a new trip to OZ Dave will be ready to pick up the planning torch and make sure that I have a blast while there.
I just have to say that ever you EVER get the oppertunity to swap with these lovely people, then dont hesitate - they are awesome guests as well as exchangers!
Don't forget you have to take me for a spin in one of those stunt cars you drive Dave - I haven't forgotten about that ;-)
We have hosted Susan and Ted previously and were more than happy to help them again. As before, they left our apartment in excellent condition. We certainly recommend them as exchange guests.
Molly's apartment is in a fantastic location to spend some time in Sidmouth and explore the Jurassic Coast. It is only a very short walk to shops, restaurants, and the beach. The apartment is very comfortable for a couple, and Molly was kind enough to leave a welcome package for us. We would certainly recommend the exchange.
Just be aware that if you come by car, parking in the area can be very difficult.
A comfortable and welcoming home + a fascinating area to explore + hosts who care about their exchange partners experience = a perfect exchange. In fact, our exchange with Katie, Simon and family couldn't be described as anything less than perfect.
The Peaks District offers a lot to be discovered, not just for lovers of nature, but also students of culture and history. Thanks to Katie and her local knowledge, we managed to explore much of it.
The rural surrounds made their house an enjoyable retreat after a day of exploration. We felt we were staying in a home, rather than a house.
Our only regret is that we didn't get to stay longer.
If you are looking for an exchange full of interesting options , in a comfortable house with every convenience, and with genuine people, we suggest you contact Katie..
The only disappointment of our exchange with Sal, Dave and their children was that it was over so quickly. They were very enjoyable company, and left our apartment in excellent condition. We would love to have them at any time if they can be talked into another trip to Brisbane. We 110% recommend them as exchange partners.
We enjoy the privilege of being able to meet most of our guests because of our exchange arrangement, and meeting Katie and her family was another example of the positive benefits of home exchange. We were able to enjoy their company on a number of occasions, and share with them some of the things we enjoy about Brisbane. It truly was a pleasure to share our home and city with Katie, Simon, Hannah and Alissa. They were perfect guests, and left our apartment in pristine condition. Our only regret is that we will probably not see them again before they return home. They would certainly be welcome at any time if they did choose to come to Brisbane again. In the meantime, we are looking forward to staying in their home in a couple of months. We would very highly recommend them as exchange partners.
Hosting Lena and her friend in our apartment was a genuine pleasure. We enjoy interacting with our guests where possible, and they were truly enjoyable and interesting company. They treated our apartment with complete respect, and left it in pristine condition. Lena and Camilla left us as new friends, and we would be delighted to have them back any time they wanted.
It's always nice to meet like minded people whose company you enjoy. Carey and Peter were great guests who left our apartment spotlessly keen. The only downside was that they didn't stay long enough! Hopefully we will get the chance to host them again.
Another excellent exchange with Ana and Alberto. 150% recommended
Cuenca was certainly a surprise for us. So much to see and do, but meeting Ana and Alberto was the icing on the cake. Fantastic hosts who couldn't do enough to make sure we enjoyed our visit. I doubt we will do too many more exchanges as good as this. 100% recommended! We can't wait to repay their hospitality.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Felisa and Carlos's apartment in Montgat. We approached them on the strength of another member's recommendation, and are so glad we did. The apartment was perfect, and in a fabulous location with easy access to Barcelona and lots of other destinations. Felisa was always contactable, and happy to share suggestions and information about the area.
Our only regret is that we didn't stay another week!
Thanks Felisa and Carlos for sharing your apartment with us.
Unfortunately, we didn't get to meet Lisa and Ricardo in person, but they did organise some friends to get us settled. Communication with Lisa was very easy, and she was a fount of information regarding things to see and do, not only in Tarragona, but also the surrounding area.
The apartment (super comfortable) is in a fabulous location, with easy access to the centre of Tarragona (so close we walked), the local beach, and plenty of restaurants, bars and supermarkets. We are looking forward to repaying Lisa and Ricardo's hospitality next year in Australia. 100% recommend an exchange with them.
We had a fabulous stay at Silvana and Vasco's apartment. It is located a short train ride from the centre of town, and is an ideal location, not only to explore Porto, but also the surrounding areas.
The apartment is well appointed with a very comfortable bed, and quality linen and fittings. Silvana and Vasco were great hosts and went the extra mle to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Getting to look after Toby and Anais was a bonus!
Hopefully we can repay their kindness if they get a chance to visit us in Australia.
It was a pleasure to have Matthew and family stay in our apartment. They were enjoyable company and left the unit in excellent condition. We look forward to meeting with them again when we visit Sardinia.
It was a pleasure to have Susan and Ted stay with us for a second time. As before , it was a most enjoyable exchange, and we hope to see them again in the future.
One of the best parts about home exchange is meeting nice people . Jacinta, Marco and their daughters were delightful guests and left our apartment in perfect condition. Our only regret is that we did not get to spend more time with them. We would have them stay with us again in a heartbeat.
Susan , Ted and Laurence were perfect guests. They were a pleasure to interact with, and left our apartment in pristine condition. We would certainly recommend them as exchange partners, and would be more than happy to have them here again.
It was a pleasure to have Ilana as a guest in our apartment. She was easygoing, excellent company and interested in what Brisbane has to offer. We are certain that any exchange with her would be equally enjoyable.
We had enjoyed Lone's company on a previous exchange, so when she found herself needing emergency accomodation, we were more than delighted to have her stay with us for a few more days. It was a pleasure once again, to enjoy her company.
It was a pleasure to be able to repay Lone's kindness in hosting us some years ago (pre Covid!). Her warm and vibrant personality, and sense of humour, makes her excellent company and the time we spent showing her around Fraser Island made for some great memories.
We are happy to recommend Marc and Elena as exchange guests.
We are happy to recommend Marc and Elena as exchange guests.
The only thing nicer than Lone's home is Lone herself. We were lucky enough to have Lone host us for 5 days at her home in Frederiksvaerk. Although it is about a 40 minute drive out of Copenhagen, there are regular rail services which ensure easy access to the capital. The train station is only a 10 minute walk from the house. A longer stay would probably make a car desirable but for a week or so, the excellent Danish public transport system provides easy access to most of the island’s attractions.
Frederiksvaerg itself is an interesting town and it is easy to spend a day exploring the local history.
Lone’s house is fully equipped with anything you would want, very comfortable, and comes with the added and welcome bonus of pet therapy for animal lovers!
Lone herself is a gracious hostess, helpful, communicative, and considerate of her guest’s needs. We can’t wait to show her reciprocal kindness when she visits us.
