General Overview
I have a lovely 2-story apartment (80m2) in a quiet part of the city center of Leiden, next to a canal. The place is quite eco-friendly as it has a heat pump and solar panels. It is part of a modern building with 64 homes, built in 2017. It has an integrated parking garage where I have my own parking spot, available for you to use.
The Space
On ground level there is a fairly spacious combined living room with kitchen (32m2), and as it's located on a street corner it gets a lot of daylight and sunshine. I have a very comfy couch, large dining table and kitchen with the usual such as fridge, oven, dishwasher and electric stove (induction cooking). There is a toilet downstairs, a tiny area with washer and dryer, and my storage room (here's a freezer) with an exit leading to the parking garage.
Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed (160x200) and one a single twin (90x200). I have a luxurious full size air bed to create a second bed in the second bedroom, allowing 4 people to stay in my home comfortably. The loggia (internal balcony, facing south, with lounge sofa) is reached via the double bedroom. Next there is the bathroom with a spacious walk-in shower.
The whole place has heated floors connected to a heat pump, which makes my home very comfortable at 20 degrees Celsius year-round. In summer the system will cool the house a bit (2-3 degrees maximum, it's not real air conditioning but makes a huge difference in comfort on hot days). There is also a mechanical ventilation system throughout the house so continuous fresh air.
In addition to the balcony I have a small front garden, which is new so I'm still working on getting it greener and more colourful. It has a little bench, making it a perfect spot to sit and enjoy the sunshine.
I don't really watch TV so I don't have one, however my internet is a highspeed fiber connection, so you can stream all you want. I also have a 4k resolution, 24" external monitor that you can hook up to to watch your stuff.
Guest Access
I have a private entrance on a street that is mostly closed off from cars, so pretty quiet.
The apartment covers 2 floors, with stairs (16 steps). Both bedrooms are upstairs.
Notes
It is important to know that I have two cute little kitties, Miek and Merel who require some care and attention while you stay at my home.
To keep the place neat despite my hairy friends I have a housekeeper who comes to clean once a week.
As I don't have kids my home doesn't particularly cater to families with young children. However if you don't mind not having loads of toys and if your youngsters know how to handle pets, I'm sure you can enjoy staying here with your kid as well, it's a pretty kid-friendly neighbourhood and there is a fun playground right next door. Just keep in mind that I live right next to several canals with no fence whatsoever - your kids have to be able to swim!

Neighbourhood
My house looks out on a park area and a small canal.
Right next door in addition to other homes there are a gym, a beautiful green historical cemetery (Vincent van Gogh's mother is buried there) and a really fun little children's playground.
As I'm located in the city centre, basically anything you need is at walking distance; shops, restaurants, grocery stores, parks, museums, cinemas etc.
It's a residential area so pretty quiet and very safe.
The city of Leiden is quite an authentic and interesting place to visit. It has many canals, the oldest university of the Netherlands dating back to 1575 and was the birth place of Rembrandt, the famous painter. There are great museums, and it is also just a very nice place to wander around and explore.

Nearest airport
Leiden is only a 15 minute train ride away from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
Getting Around
There are several bus stops within 5 minutes walking distance, the central train station is at 2 km: a 10-15 minute bus ride or an 8 minute bike ride. You can also walk it in about half an hour. Leiden is very centrally located in the 'Randstad' region, as it takes only 35 minutes by train to Amsterdam, 10 to The Hague, 30 to Rotterdam and 40 to Utrecht. Also the beach is just some 10km away. I have two bikes available for use, a regular one and an e-bike. When you stay at my home you also have my private parking spot at your disposal.
I'm part of a private carshare, if you're looking to use a car we can look into arranging this. However since public transport in The Netherlands is among the best in the world, there is no actual need for one when you visit.
