Neighbourhood
Nice is built by the sea and bordered by hills where most of the houses are located. Our house is installed on a hill called Bellet and our district (Saint Roman de Bellet) is like a small village overlooking the sea, nestled in the heart of vineyards producing a wine of character with controlled designation of origin. Our neighborhood is residential and very family-friendly (children are used to meeting neighboring children to ride bikes or scooters in the alleys between the houses) but you can find local shops (bakery, pharmacy, post office and café ) 5 minutes by car from the house.
The heart of the city of Nice is 15 minutes by car from the house. Here, the sun shines 300 days a year, the café terraces are pleasant even in winter, you can stroll along the famous Promenade des Anglais, swim on its many beaches, visit the picturesque district of old Nice and taste the typical dishes there. Nice (pissaladière, socca, ratatouille or Pan Bagnat). Every day, on the Cours Saleya, the large flower market with fruits and vegetables is held in the morning. Depending on the season, you can also visit the many museums, the Roman remains of the arenas of Cimiez, take part in the Carnival and the battle of flowers or even the Nice Jazz festival.
Less than an hour by car, you can go to the very pretty and famous cities of Cannes, Antibes or Menton and even spend a day in Italy (San Remo or Ventimiglia).
If you want wide open spaces and nature, the Mercantour National Park is accessible about an hour's drive away and offers magnificent hikes in the heart of unspoiled and protected nature, suitable for all levels. Depending on the season (and your luck) you can observe marmots, ibexes and chamois, sometimes just a few meters from you! For sports enthusiasts, the first ski resorts are located 1h30 from the house (Auron, Isola 2000, Valberg). Thrill-seekers will be thrilled by the via ferratas, canyoning courses and aquatic hikes.
We will of course be happy to share with you all our tips, the places to visit in the region and the hikes that we enjoy the most.
Getting around
The city of Nice is accessible by plane (Nice airport) or by train (Nice train station). Our house is served by a small bus which passes every 15 minutes and which allows you to reach the tram in the city center. However, a car is still very useful for getting around (we can provide you with a small 4-seater car, but which can only make short trips).
