Our 1909 Craftsman-style house is in a great walking neighborhood, just a block and a half from Green Lake (a park with a playground, beach, bike loop, and Seattle's most popular jogging trail). There are lots of coffee shops, restaurants, pubs, a pool, a food co-op, and a library within a 2- to 10-minute walk from the house.
The Space
We love our neighborhood and our home! Our place has an open floor plan, high ceilings, hardwood floors, lots of windows, and lots of light.
Our neighborhood is safe and walkable, with multiple places to eat within a 5-minute walk.
Our house is a great fit for someone who enjoys cats. (We have two!)
It's also good for folks who are okay with the quirks of an older home -- including being comfortable with just one shared bathroom. The bathroom is just through the den. It has a claw-foot tub where you can take long, luxurious baths or opt for a quick hot (or cold) shower.
Our part of town is an easy area to explore without a car, but if you want to drive, there's ALMOST always a spot right out front -- parallel parking skills are a must, though!
The main bedroom is just off the dining room. It has a queen-sized bed.
Seattle is pretty amazing in the summer. There are so many festivals, beaches, and places to explore. The temperatures rarely get excessively hot. For that reason, older homes pretty much never have air conditioning, and our house is no exception. We do have a few window units for the rare days when it DOES get really hot. We just ask that guests not leave downstairs windows open (with the window air conditioners in them) if you're going to be out of the house.
There's a set of narrow(ish) stairs that leads to the semi-converted attic. There are two twin-size beds tucked into the eaves so that the entire attic (with its sloped ceilings) is now a "teen zone" with a TV, shelves filled with games and books, and a small IKEA table just the right size for playing card games.
Guest Access
Multi-level house, with 3 steps up to the front porch. The kitchen, main bedroom, bathroom, living and dining room are on the main level. The washer and dryer are in the basement. The semi-converted attic space with two twin beds are up a flight of narrow stairs.
SEATAC - Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is about 30 minutes away by car or 1 hour by bus/train.
We love that there is so much to do within a 5- or 10-minute walk from our home. When we want to venture farther, the light rail station is an easy 12-minute walk from our front door, and that we can hop on and explore places like downtown Seattle, Capital Hill, and the International District. We also have 4 bikes available.
