General Overview

Our home is big, beautiful, bright, private and custom-designed with sweeping views of Victoria and beyond to Mt Baker and the Washington State coastline. Enjoy our rhododendron garden in the accompanying video.

The Space

There are three bedrooms – a large, bright master with king bed and 55 inch TV/AppleTV; a second with queen tempur-pedic bed and TV/AppleTV; and a third with twin beds. We have two bathrooms – a gorgeous master ensuite with Italian marble tiles, large deep jetted bathtub and a separate steam shower enclosure; the second bathroom has a large tub/shower combination. You’ll love our large kitchen with new gas stovetop, wall-oven and dishwasher. The adjoining breakfast area and living room with three couches and a gas fireplace. The bright, large dining room has seating for eight. The library is wonderful for quiet and cozy reading or playing board games. The TV room has a comfy four-seater couch, surround sound, AppleTV and DVD/CD/VHS players. The washer/dryer and utility sink are in the mud room. Outdoor living is comfortable on the large deck, accessed through patio doors in the TV room and kitchen. There is a separate brick patio seating area. Both areas are warm and inviting in the summer, and overlook the private garden with flowers and hummingbirds galore.

Guest Access

Our home is mostly one level, with a couple of steps upon entry and two down into the living room. (The master bedroom has an office upstairs but that is private.)

Notes

We do not have pets, and do not allow pets. We are non-smokers and do not allow smoking. Longer swaps are preferred as this is our primary residence.

Neighbourhood

Victoria and Vancouver Island is a sought-after vacation destination for many and we have the good fortune to live here! The city is about a 20 minute drive from our house. Enjoy a view of the neighborhood and Victoria from the deck or patio. If you are looking for outdoor activities, our area is perfect - hiking trails are close, as are many ocean beaches. Vancouver Island offers a multitude of outdoor pursuits, and this location provides a head start to either the west coast or north island. Our home would also be an ideal spot for those working or studying at Royal Roads University (3.6km, 6 min drive) or Victoria General Hospital (8.7 km, 14 min). The nearby Gulf Islands offer many activities – from farm markets and wonderful local food restaurants to scenic drives and hiking trails. It’s an easy and inexpensive day trip on the ferry (https://www.bcferries.com/schedules/southern/) Golfing is a favorite pastime, with a variety of year-round courses from the beginner to expert - https://golfvancouverisland.ca/ We have a more extensive list of activities available at our home and would be pleased to offer tailored suggestions.

Getting to my home

The BC Ferries terminal as well as the international airport are both a 45 minute drive away. There is public transport from the ferries but only taxis/Uber from the airport. Once you’ve finalized your travel mode, we’ll be glad to advise the best way to reach our house.

Getting Around

As we live at the top of a hill, guests would be most comfortable getting around in a vehicle (the main road is about 150m/500ft down the hill). There is an hourly neighborhood bus which connects to a bus exchange. We may consider swapping vehicles.

Ann and Martin

We are a retired couple who love traveling. We are open to new ideas and enjoy walking and hiking and generally being active. We love New Zealand and England, and have also traveled to Guatemala, Guyana, Myanmar, France, Germany, USA and Hong Kong in recent years. When we’re not traveling, we are usually planning our next adventure or going on road trips in our small RV.
