General Overview

Our home is in a quiet neighbourhood in Collingwood, the outdoor recreation hub of southern Ontario. There is four season recreation: Blue Mountain downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, hiking and Ontario's best mountain biking are all nearby. If here in ski season, you can hit the slopes day and night as Blue Mountain has night and day skiing every day. On the shores of beautiful Georgian Bay (Lake Huron), C'wood is between two incredible freshwater sandy beaches (Wasaga Beach - 10 min, and Sauble Beach 1 hour). Within 2 hours of Muskoka Lakes region and Toronto to the south. Although a small town, Collingwood "punches above it's weight" for restaurants, spas and art galleries. We love living here and know you'll love it too! Our house is surrounded by large maple and spruce trees, creating a very private place to retreat after enjoying the great outdoors in our area. A backyard hot tub makes for a relaxing end to the day's activities and the home is very family friendly with lots of living space inside and out. For kids, there is a play structure and zipline in the backyard, and a new community park is very close by.

Neighbourhood

Our house is right off of a trail network of over 70 km of in-town bike/walking paths. Within town are countless great restaurants and shopping. A former shipbuilding community, Collingwood is located on Georgian Bay, part of beautiful, freshwater Lake Huron, one of the Great Lakes. Incredible recreation is all close by: sailing, kayaking, kite surfing, paddleboarding. Road and mountain biking opportunities abound in the vast network of trails and country roads just five minutes outside of town. If you're a golfer, there are a number of top-rated courses in close proximity. Interested in beer/wine? ...three craft breweries within town, plus two cideries and three wineries nearby.

We've traveled extensively as a family, and love the home exchange community, and especially PLU. Most of our exchange experiences have been as guests (points, globes, etc) but are open to all types of exchange if we can make it work! We live in an "outdoorsy" four season adventure town, and seek destinations domestic and abroad that allow us to enjoy nature in an active way, and immerse ourselves in local culture.
