Alison is an amazing host, who provided much guidance regarding the travel planning and options and since we were new to Costa Rica, her suggestions helped us out many times over. As part of Alison's team, her property manager was also very helpful including some arrangements and introducing us to an excellent driver. Communications were always timely and helpful. Alison's home is Spectacular! It has everything you need to make your holiday perfect. We truly enjoyed the pool directly below, as it faced the beach and you could watch the surfers and waves. The property management was extremely good, cleaning all 4 pools daily and endlessly gardening to make the area truly beautiful. The ocean sound was always present, soothing for most, but if you needed a break the A/C was available, close the doors and it was quiet and comfortable. Walking to town was ~10 minutes by beach, ~20 minutes walking by road, with lots of restaurants, bars, souvenir and grocery stores. With the large balcony looking directly out to the Pacific Ocean, it was perfect for morning coffee, listening to the birds, and watching sunsets. We also got a few thunderstorms at night, watching from the balcony was entertaining. We enjoy walking both Jaco beach and Hermosa beach. Both beaches were different and very nice to experience. We also hiked up to el Miro, which was about 400' above the south end of Jaco beach and provided exceptional views of Jaco. Although this was an 'off season' visit, the location of her home in Jaco could not be better. At the south end of the Jaco beach, it was flat, fairly shallow and all sand, very little rock or drift logs. Small to medium waves are good to learn to surf, trees for shade, and right at the foot of higher tropical forests, which adds the background beauty. This was a great vacation for us, we truly appreciate you sharing your paradise with us, and highly recommend your home for others to cherish. We hope you'll consider us again in the future as we are now hooked on Jaco for a relaxing vacation.

How lucky we were to stay at Alison’s home! Her home is beautiful and spacious, not to mention beachfront. Plus FOUR pools to choose from, in the end our favorite pool was the one directly in front of their condo. Every morning I would sit on the balcony with my cup of coffee, watching the waves crash in and listening to all the different bird calls. Every so often we would see scarlet macaws fly by in pairs. Jacó is centrally located and from there we were able to take a side trip for a few days in the jungle (a PLU Pluto exchange), and had easy access to many activities - we did a crocodile river tour and ziplining. My kids also took surf lessons from Alison’s friend. It’s very easy to imagine longer stays, and we hope to come back one day!

If you ever go to a vacation home and find yourself dreamily Googling real estate listings in the area, you will understand how we felt at Alison’s. It is shockingly close to the ocean, probably the closest we have ever stayed, and the only thing separating you from the water is a pool! Alison’s home is beautiful, well-stocked and super comfortable. But it was hard to spend much time in it with all that there was to do outside. There is a terrace where you have a great sunset view or you can walk out for your morning coffee. A surf school is a one minute walk. But what made this exchange even more special was Alison herself and her property manager (and friend) Melisa. They were so incredibly welcoming, hospitable, and seemed to truly care about us having a wonderful time there. If I had anything to ask or wonder about whether it was first thing in the morning or evening, both of them replied nearly instantly. Way more than I would ever expect. They were both willing to help when we had an issue with a sick kid while there, and just both felt like instant friends. This is what home exchange is all about, and we loved it from start to finish. One thing I want to add about the area. Jaco has a bit of a reputation for being a seedy town with prostitutes. There is really only one strip that has a bit of a wild party feel. Perhaps being from amsterdam we are a little more aware of whether this is safe or not, but we did not feel in any way unsafe or compromised in the town. Actually, Alison’s place is in South Jaco, which is a bit further from the strip and has a lot of families. We went into town for the supermarket and a restaurant or two and it was fine. Beyond that, we have found this area to have the best beaches of anywhere we have been. And we adored restaurant El Punto Jacobeno near Alison’s. We had dinner there twice. We had such an amazing week in Jacó at Alison's place! The location of their home is fantastic with the beach right out the front and the sound of waves as you fall asleep. So much to do in the area a week wasn't long enough. Thanks so much Alison and family for opening your home to us and letting us enjoy your slice of heaven there. Pura vida!
