General Overview

Hello! I’m an art historian and will be taking up a short-term fellowship at Columbia University in New York. I’m looking for a place to stay with my partner, Simon, who is a human rights lawyer at Amnesty International, from around 9 January to 5 April 2027. Our dates are fairly flexible: we can leave our London flat earlier or later, and there is also some flexibility of about a week around our departure in April.

The Space

Our London flat Our home is a newly renovated one-bedroom flat in the heart of Walthamstow, London. It is comfortable, lived-in and thoughtfully furnished. There is access to a shared garden with a patio, perfect for a morning coffee or relaxing after a day out. The flat is a short bus ride or a 20-minute walk from the Underground (Victoria line), and just moments from Lloyd Park. It would be ideal for one person or a couple looking for a quiet, clean, comfortable and well-connected London base with plenty of character. An additional house in Croatia The swap can also include as much time as you would like at my mother’s house in Duga Resa, Croatia. The apartment is usually rented out on Airbnb, but as part of the swap, you would be welcome to stay there for free for as long as you like, including several weeks. Finally, if you would prefer a full-time Croatia–New York swap, that is also an option. My mum’s house is surrounded by nature in a quiet, quaint little town and would make an ideal writing retreat. It is about an hour drive from the University of Zagreb and about an hour and a half from the University of Rijeka. There is free parking on the property. The Croatian property is a self-contained apartment occupying the upper floor of a charming family home in Duga Resa. It has its own separate entrance and a spacious terrace. The apartment is less than a 10-minute walk from a beach on the river and about 15 minutes on foot from the town centre.

I am an art historian with a PhD from the Courtauld Institute of Art and am currently undertaking postdoctoral research at the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna. In January 2027, I will begin a Gerda Henkel Foundation Fellowship in Art History at the Italian Academy at Columbia University. I am based in London and am hoping to find a home swap for my time in New York.
