Neighbourhood
The neighborhood used to be light industrial, but all of that is gone now. Vernon Blvd has a ton of delicious restaurants, and there is a beautiful waterfront park just outside our door. If you're here in the summer you'll likely see wedding parties and quinceañeras coming to it for photos.
MOMA's PS1 museum is right nearby as well.
You should definitely explore Manhattan as all tourists do, but make sure you spend some time in our neighborhood as well!
Nearest airport
LGA is the easiest. It's pretty close by, and a quick/relatively cheap taxi. You can also take the Q70 AirPort Express to the 7 train, which is only $3 and will take you about 45 minutes.
JFK is 30-60 minutes by cab (depending on time of day) and about an hour on the airtrain->E->7 train.
Newark airport (EWR) is usually over an hour to get to, so maybe avoid it unless the airfare is a lot cheaper. Count on a taxi from Newark being ~$150.
Getting Around
We are two blocks from the 7 train, and a 5-10 minute walk from several other subway lines. It's one stop to Grand Central and midtown, Times Square, Broadway theaters, and all of that.
The 7 train will also take you out to Mets Stadium, Worlds Fair Park, the Queens Museum, the NY Hall of Science, the Queens Zoo, and a bunch of other things if you want to explore Queens.
