General Overview

A much-loved 1920s bach just steps from the beach Welcome to our special little slice of Waihi Beach. Our home is a classic 1920s Kiwi bach — full of charm, not flash, but incredibly comfortable and set up for easy, relaxed holidays.

The Space

Tucked down a quiet road, we’re just a three-minute stroll to the beach. It’s the kind of place where you can wander down for a swim, try your hand at surfing or paddle boarding, or cast a line for a spot of fishing. There are also some fantastic coastal walks nearby, and you can easily walk to a selection of very good local cafés for your morning coffee or brunch. Outdoor Living The heart of our home is the large, sunny deck — where we spend most of our time when the weather’s good (which is often!). It’s perfect for long breakfasts, afternoon drinks, and relaxed BBQ dinners. Out the back, the fully fenced garden is private and safe, with a hot and cold outdoor shower — ideal after the beach, or for a magical rinse under the stars. Sleeping Arrangements Two comfortable queen bedrooms inside the house A separate cabin out the back with another queen bed A tucked-away single bed off a small hallway It’s a great setup for families or groups who want a bit of space and flexibility. A Note on the Bach Experience In true traditional bach style, the toilet is located just outside the back door, attached to the house — part of the charm and simplicity of staying somewhere a little more classic and unpretentious. The Vibe This is a place to slow down, kick off your shoes, and enjoy the simple things — beach swims, sunshine, good company, and the laid-back rhythm of Waihi Beach. We love this home and hope you will too.

Neighbourhood

Our place is on a quiet no exit road that ends at the beach. Most of the houses nearby are holiday homes. We’re just a three-minute stroll to the beach. It’s the kind of place where you can wander down for a swim, try your hand at surfing or paddle boarding, or cast a line for a spot of fishing. There are also some fantastic coastal walks nearby, and you can easily walk to a selection of very good local cafés for your morning coffee or brunch.

Getting to my home

A car is the best form of transport to get to our place. Once you are there it is easy to walk to everything you need or want to do.

Nearest airport

Tauranga Airport is about an hour away. Auckland airport would be about a two hour drive.

Getting Around

Within a five minute walk there are two great cafes, a deli, fish and chip shop and a dairy. On Saturday mornings in summer there is a very good farmers market and the school nearby. Only 15 minutes walk away is the village with lots of eating places and some great shops.

Hi, we are Clyde and Linda. We are a Kiwi couple who've recently sold our plumbing business and are now easing into semi-retirement - perfect timing to start exploring more of NZ and the world together. We have three adult children and are loving being grandparents. We enjoy keeping active with walks and bike rides, and we love getting a real feel for a place by trying the local food and finding hidden spots along the way. Home exchanging is new to us and we are looking forward to discovering new places at a relaxed pace and having time to get to know the area.
