Holiday Season in Boston | Family Home in Jamaica Plain Near Downtown & Winter Adventures
Available December 27–January 8
Spend the week between Christmas and New Year’s, and the first days of January, experiencing Boston at one of its coziest times of year. Holiday lights are still up across the city, museums and historic neighborhoods are easy to explore, and classic New England winter adventures are within reach.
Our sunny family home is in Jamaica Plain, one of Boston’s most charming, green, and neighborhood-oriented areas. It offers the best of both worlds: a peaceful residential setting with easy access to downtown Boston, Cambridge, Brookline, Fenway, and the rest of the city.
This is our real family home, not an investment property, so it is comfortable, warm, and set up for everyday living.
The Home
Our home includes:
• 3 bedrooms
• Primary bedroom with king bed + 2 twin bedrooms
• 1.5 bathrooms, including one with a jetted soaking tub
• Renovated kitchen
• Cozy living room with fireplace
• Large private yard surrounded by mature trees
• Hardwood floors throughout
• High-speed WiFi
• Washer and dryer
• Private driveway parking for one car
The primary bedroom is bright and peaceful, while the two twin bedrooms are cheerful and ideal for children.
After a winter day exploring Boston, come home to a fire, make dinner together, and relax in the soaking tub. It’s the kind of home that works especially well for a family holiday because there is plenty of room to settle in rather than simply sleep between sightseeing days.
Our Neighborhood
Jamaica Plain, or “JP,” feels like a small community within Boston, with tree-lined streets, historic homes, independent cafés and restaurants, bookstores, breweries, playgrounds, and lots of green space.
We are:
• About a 15-minute walk to the Orange Line subway for easy access to downtown Boston
• Steps from the Arnold Arboretum, a beautiful place for winter walks
• Close to Jamaica Pond and the shops and restaurants of Centre Street
• Convenient to Brookline, Fenway, Back Bay, Cambridge, and downtown Boston
• Well positioned for day trips throughout Massachusetts and New England
Boston During the Holidays
The days after Christmas are a lovely time to explore Boston. The city is still decorated for the season, but the pace is a little calmer.
Spend your days walking through Beacon Hill and Back Bay, exploring the North End and Freedom Trail, visiting Boston’s museums, ice skating, shopping on Newbury Street, or wandering Boston Common and the Public Garden.
For New Year’s Eve, enjoy the festivities downtown and then come home to a quiet neighborhood and your own fireplace.
Families can easily mix sightseeing days with slower mornings at home, neighborhood walks, museum afternoons, and relaxed evenings together.
Winter Adventures Beyond Boston
Boston is also a great jumping-off point for exploring New England in winter.
Easy day trips include historic Concord and Lexington, seaside Gloucester and Rockport, and scenic small towns throughout Massachusetts.
Head farther north for skiing, snow tubing, sleigh rides, mountain towns, and winter scenery in New Hampshire or Vermont.
Or stay close to home. Sleep in, make breakfast, walk through the Arboretum, explore a Boston neighborhood in the afternoon, and come back to the fireplace. That flexibility is one of our favorite things about living here.
A Great Fit For
Our home is especially well suited for families, couples, or friends looking to experience Boston more like locals during the holiday season.
Because this is our personal home, we’re looking for thoughtful swap partners who will enjoy and care for it as their own, just as we would yours.
Available December 27 through January 8. We’re open to swaps covering all or part of that period.
If you’re looking for a warm, comfortable family home in an authentic Boston neighborhood, with easy access to the city and New England winter adventures, we’d love to connect.
