General Overview

I have spend a lot of time tailoring the place to my taste, making: the bed, the tables, the benches, the cabinets and the music instaliatons (big vintage stereo system with record player and bluetooth connection, 3 guitars and a keyboard). The kitchen is adjecent to a long lovely balcony, there is a dedicated study room and my personal favorite place is, what I have come to call; 'the speakeazy', which is an alcove in the living room where I build in benches, cabins and a (epoxy) diner table; truely amazing for diner parties!

The Space

There is a large living room with adjacent dining area, a dedicated study room, a bedroom, a badroom, a kitchen and a balcony that spans the entire with of the apartment.

It is on the second floor, giving a nice view over the market.

Neighbourhood

Oud-West is the most desired neighborhoods in the city. It is very clean and safe and the best part are all the cafe's, restaurants and shops. Especially, my apartement is directly on the Ten-Kate markt, this gives a very nice view from the living room and provides many options for breakfast, lunch and diner. In the street is also 'de hallen' which is an old tram warehouse where now there is cinema, a foodhall, multiple cafe's and many small shops. It is in between Vondelpark and Rembrandtpark, which are big parks, both at a little over 5 min walking distance, I go there often. Finally, The 'Ten Kate straat', which is the name of my street, is adjacent to the 'Kinkerstraat', which is a big street where there are even more shops etc.

Getting to my home

There is very good public transport in Amsterdam, getting here from Schiphol airport is eazyest with the train and tram, the trams is Amsterdam are great! I also have two bikes in front of the house that you can use.

Getting Around

Trams, by bikes and walking gets you far in Amsterdam as well. The city is really not that big, you can walk from my place in West to East in less than an hour.

I am an Amsterdam philosophy student and aspiring woodworker and writer, most of the (coolest) things in the appartement I made myself. I am going to Rio de Jeneiro to write a piece about the two sides of wisdom; Logos and Eros. There is only one sort of exchange I am looking for; an Amsterdam-Rio de Jeneiro reciprocal exchange for approximately 3 month starting in the beginning of Januari. Where I come to Rio alone, and you come to Amsterdam with 1 or 2 people (3 is also possible if we turn the study into a bedroom). I am looking for a space (old character is a plus!) in Zona Sul (Botafogo, Humaitá, Laranjeiras, Flamengo, Santa Teresa, Copacabana etc) that is safe enough to bring a Laptop and Ideally has airconditioning and WiFi. I want to connect with local people and artists as inspiration for my writing project, so I am very busy learning Português brasileiro!
