Neighbourhood
Durango's historic 3rd Avenue was the city's main residential street. It's lined with an eclectic mix of Victorian-era homes build by the people who founded the mountain community, when it served as a smelting center and railroad hub for the silver mines in nearby Silverton. The house is within walking distance of the still-operating Durango-Silverton steam railroad, the Animas River, which boasts gold-medal fly fishing waters, multiple hiking trails and Durango's historic downtown. Purgatory Ski Resort is 30 minutes up Hwy 550. Lake Ben Nighthorse is 10-15 minutes by car.
Getting to my home
Durango-La Plata County Airport (DRO) is a 20-minute drive.
Nearest airport

Getting Around
Most downtown restaurants, shops, the Durango-Silverton railroad, Animas River, Strater Hotel and other attractions within a short walk. Lot more hiking and lakes are within a short drive.

Empty-nester couple here. We both own our own businesses (consulting and education) and work remotely. We are looking to spend extended time (2+ weeks) in beautiful places, do fun things and meet interesting people. We love outdoor activites (e.g., hiking, biking, nordic skiing, etc.). Literally no region of the world is off limits. We have kids in Austin, TX, so finding a place to stay there would be awesome! We can offer our historic house (fully updated) in downtown Durango, Colorado, or our log cabin in the nearby mountains in return.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
