We love the wrap around porch, high ceilings, spacious kitchen, and, as we call it, our fishbowl front room which is flooded with gorgeous natural light through a stunning wall of windows. The Richmond location is prime for taking day trips. We are 1.5 hours from Washington DC, 2 hours to Virginia Beach, 1 hour to the Blue Ridge Mountains (Skyline Drive), and 1 hour to Williamsburg/Jamestown... all great day trips!! We have the James River running right through Richmond City which makes for great kayaking and hiking trips.
The Space
Our home has a complete wrap around porch. One side of the porch is designed for lounging the other for dining. We have a small apartment behind the house (the garage area) that has a futon that opens into a full bed, a kitchenette (with a sink, refrigerator, and keurig), and a small bath with a shower stall. We have an in-ground pool (in season) and a deck in back of the house. There is a relatively long driveway with large area for parking. The inside: we only enter the home through the back door. When you enter you will be in the mud/laundry room. We have a TV room (a den) with a small office area, a full bath in the hallway, a spacious kitchen with an island and a small dinner table, the front room is our living room (the room with all the windows). Off the front room is our small bedroom (two adjustable XL twins that make up a king-size bed) and attached to the bedroom is a large bathroom with a jacuzzi tub.
Guest Access
There are 5 steps to get up to the porch where you enter the house. The home is all on one level (ranch). If in season, the pool will be open and we will have directions how to maintain it (if you would like to swim). Our garage area has the small apartment but the garage part of the apartment will be locked. That is our music studio.
Notes
Richmond, Virginia is a great place to visit! Lots of culture here. Museums, parks, great restaurants, a lot of music and farmers markets. Richmond offers loads of festivals and events throughout the year. We have a beautiful river (the James River) running right through our City. I have a guide to Richmond at the house to help you navigate and enjoy our city.
