General Overview

Large traditional architecture house with ocean views, parking and garden in the historic center of San Francisco.

The Space

Our house is historically listed, both exterior and interiors are well preserved. It has ocean views from all rooms on the Western side of the house and an open terrace, and there is a totally private backyard with a grill. This is a 3,000 square feet house with 2 floors: 3 bedrooms plus one bathroom upstairs (2 with queen beds and 1 with a single bed, all with very comfortable mattresses) and common space downstairs which includes another full bathroom, an open plan kitchen with breakfast table, a dining room, a living room with home theatre and a working, wood-burning fireplace (including wood), and a library/home office. This is our primary residence so the house is fully equipped with everything one might need: kitchen has gourmet appliances and is fully stocked with utensils, plates, cookware, etc. There is Miele washer/dryer in the basement, Roborock vacuum cleaner, 1 Gbps Internet connection with WiFi throughout the house (we work from home), Ecobee climate control and a security system. We offer a monthly cleaning service for a fee of $300. Our house is furnished with antique furniture and many decorative items that we collected during our travels. It is very personal and we expect our guests to take good care of things. We love our home and we think it has a lot to offer to a traveler, but please understand that it is 106 years old so it has a patina of time and it is different from brand new construction. We are looking for exchanges with a minimum duration of one month.

Neighbourhood

The house is situated in the old residential neighborhood of Saint Francis Wood, a Historically Designated Area of San Francisco, with beautiful traditional architecture, a park, a tennis court and a children’s playground. It is a private HOA so neighbors know each other and it is safe and quiet. It feels like you are in the country, but you will be right in the city, connected by public transport (MUNI) going directly to tourist areas of interest. There is parking for one car.

Christopher and Anna, we love San Francisco, it is a special way of life. But we love traveling too and have lived and studied and worked on four continents. We spend a lot of time outdoors hiking and biking, but enjoy our city pleasures too - museum and theaters and events. Christopher has been working in Silicon Valley most of his life and my life is in Napa and Sonoma - I am a wine writer.
