Welcome to our humble abode - a 2 bedroom, 2 bath home. It is small probably by many standards (~1000 sq ft) but the 20 feet ceilings will make the home feel very spacious. This home is not in the heart of Los Angeles but it is next to a freeway and train station so you can "easily" get to/from anywhere in Los Angeles without a car. Easily does not mean, quick - this is LA afterall! but you can take public transportation from either the LAX airport or Burbank airport and walk about 3 blocks to the condo.

The Space

This home is now a weekend home to visit our families; other days of the week, we rent it out on Airbnb. It was my home for 10 years and I loved the tall ceilings and trees that surround this little unit. It is a simple 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom home. Nothing too fancy but the location makes it perfect for venturing out to the city (by train or in a car) and it's also located near the mountains.

Something to note is that the master closet is locked and used as a supply closet. There is a free-standing storage unit in lieu of it.

Guest Access

This condo is located on the 2nd floor so there will be one direct flight of stairs you will need to take to get into the unit from the ground floor. If you park out on the street, these will be the only stairs you will go up.

If you park in the back, behind the security gate, it will take you underground and you will need to go up one additional set of stairs  for a total of 2 set of stairs to get to the unit.

Notes

We are really hoping to do more exchanges with pet friendly homes so we can take our 2 doggies with us to visit your home.

I used to take my dogs on a daily hike at a nearby trail. It's called Monrovia Canyon Park and it's covered in Oak trees and rewards you with a nice waterfall at the end.

Getting to my home

LAX Airport: Take the Flyway to Union Station. At Union Station, take the A line (color blue). Disembark at Monrovia Station. Walk 3 blocks (Total time ~60 min).

Burbank Airport: Take the Metrolink to Union Station. At Union Station, take the A line (color blue). Disembark at Monrovia Station. Walk 3 blocks (Total time ~45 min).

Nearest airport

LAX by metro can take as little as an hour (if all the stars are aligned) but usually 1.5 hours.

Driving to LAX can take anywhere from 40 min to 1.5 hours.

Getting Around

The Metro train is about 3 blocks away and it can take you directly into Downtown Los Angeles. I am on the Metro A line.

I am also located right off the 210 freeway.

Hello! We are so pleased to join the PLU community! We are Mabel and Dario and we swapped the classroom and engineering desk for a much more relaxed pace of life. These days, Mabel can be found escorting her 88-year-old father to the city’s best dim sum spots or tracking down the tallest trees she can find. Dario, on the other hand, lives by a simple philosophy: if it is a Ford and has wheels, it needs tinkering. 

When we are not doing home projects/van projects, we are walking or biking around looking for coffee shops, street art, architecture, or hole-in-the-wall eateries around LA. If we are in our other home in Albuquerque, we are usually looking for a good hot spring to soak in.

While we have successfully done home exchanges on other sites and love the concept, our deep roots and family commitments keep us closer to home right now. Because of this, we are looking for wonderful exchanges located within a manageable 8-to-10-hour drive from Los Angeles. 

Our two dogs are an essential part of our road-trip crew, so we are seeking pet-friendly hosts and, in return, we are absolutely delighted to welcome your own fur family into our Los Angeles home.

We do have 2 homes on this platform and only the LA home can welcome your furry family. We unfortunately cannot welcome pets at the Albuquerque home.
