Spacious and sunny three-bedroom home with two living areas. Green and private backyard with visiting birdlife. Walking distance to train station (5 mins), beach (20 mins) and Escarpment track (25 mins).

The Space

The house was built in two parts - a 50's cottage that was modified and expanded in the 70s with a large extension. North facing with all day sun. The leafy backyard attracts visiting kererū and tui. We have toys suitable for younger kids (Hape train set, duplo, puzzles, tip truck, fire trucks, cars, board books and picture books). Ourdoor furniture not pictured as photos taken during winter!

Guest Access

The house is split level with a small flight of stairs leading up from the main entrance and another small flight heading down to the main living area. Laundy is down another flight of stairs (no handrail).

Neighbourhood

Pukerua Bay is a seaside suburb at the northern-most part of Porirua, part of the Wellington region.

Pukerua Bay shops are a short walk away with quality secondhand bookstore, dairy, hairdressers, takeaway food cart (evenings only) and public toilets. 

The stony beach is a little rugged but beautiful. Access is possible by walking (20 minutes down a steep 'goat' track) or driving the narrow beach access road (5 minutes). Swimming is possible, also walking around the coast and looking at the rock pools.

The start of the stunning Escarpment Track (Pukerua Bay to Paekākāriki) is a 25-minutes walk away.

The start of the Wairaka coastal walkway (Pukerua Bay to Plimmerton) is a 20-minutes walk away.

The closest supermarket is Mana New World (10-minute drive). More shops are in Paraparaumu and Porirua (both 20-minute drive).

Nearest airport is Wellington International Airport, 33km or approx 40 minutes drive when not busy

Getting Around

Pukerua Bay train station is a 5-minute walk. The Kapiti train line goes from Wellington to Waikanae. The trains may be replaced by buses all/part of the weekend.

A bike path extends north and south from Pukerua Bay.

SH59 runs through Pukerua Bay, linking to the Kapiti Coast and Porirua where you can access SH1.
