Our home is a beautiful 100 year old restored character home, on a private beach estate in West Sussex, England. The pretty, pebbled, private and quiet beach is a short stroll away, and we have two paddle boards / paddles you can use. There are four pubs and several convenience stores within walking distance, and it is possible to walk along the beach to the peaceful Pagham Nature reserve – a beautiful haven for bird watching.
The Area
The lovely Roman town of Chichester is 8 miles away, and has many coffee shops, bars, restaurants etc, as well as the highly renowned Chichester Festival Theatre.
Just to the north of Chichester is the famous Goodwood House, home to the world-renowned Festival of Speed, (held in July every year) the Revival festival featuring all things vintage, (September) and of course, horse racing throughout the warmer months, including Glorious Goodwood. Goodwood race course has been described as the most beautiful race course in the world, and it is easy to see why, with fantastic views over the South Downs.
13 miles to the east lies Arundel, with it’s astonishing Castle, the second biggest in England, seat of the Duke of Norfolk, and open for tours of the grounds and interiors from April to the 1st November. Arundel itself is an absolutely beautiful old town, full of lovely quaint shops and buildings, great cafes and restaurants, Arundel Cathedral and is surrounded by beautiful countryside and the river Arun.
North of Chichester is the South Downs – beautiful rolling countryside to explore with many lovely walks within reach, cute villages and of course, many fantastic British pubs.
South of Chichester there are quaint coastal villages - of particular note is Bosham, a picturesque small town and a thriving centre for sailing. Chichester harbour is a sanctuary for migrating wildfowl, and offers great walks along the sea shore. West Wittering boasts one of the most beautiful sandy beaches in the UK.
The Cowdray Estate at Midhurst (16 miles away) holds many polo meetings and tournaments throughout the summer.
The vibrant city of Brighton is 45 minutes away to the east by train and is known for it’s quirky independent shops, theatres and nightlife.
Portsmouth is 40 mins along the coast in the other direction, with it’s historic dockyards
The capital, London, is reachable from our closest train station, Bognor Regis, (10 minute drive away) in an hour and 50 minutes, and direct trains run frequently throughout the day to London Victoria.
To make the most of your trip, we would advise that you rent a car.
The Space
The House.
The house has been renovated whilst maintaining it’s original character. There is a large well equipped and newly installed kitchen / breakfast room with all appliances, separate utility room with washing machine and drying rack. The rest of the downstairs space is open-plan and spacious and very comfortable.
Upstairs there is a fantastic master suite with super king bed and new luxury bathroom, 2 further bedrooms with king beds and en-suites, (one of which has a separate dressing room) and a fourth smaller room with a double bed. A family bathroom and separate toilet complete the upstairs.
In addition, should you require more space and an extra bed, we have a separate fully insulated garden office / studio with a large (king sized) new comfortable sofa bed and it’s own shower room, ánd wall mounted TV. There is a comfortable, height adjustable desk and office chair in this space too, with large monitor and separate Wifi router- ideal if someone needs to work from home whilst you are staying. The garden room has radiators for the colder months so can be used year-round.
We have south-facing, pretty, lawned private gardens with plenty of outdoor seating, flower borders, arbour, and a large wood-fired hot tub available for your use if you choose. There is also a large gas BBQ. A large driveway at the front provides plenty of off-road parking, and has an EV charging point.
