General Overview

A cozy cottage in the heart of Ivywild — one of Colorado Springs' most eclectic, creative neighborhoods. The home sleeps up to 3 comfortably, is very pup friendly, and sits within walking and biking distance of some of the best trails in Colorado Springs, local restaurants, breweries, and summer outdoor concerts. Mountain views from the bedroom patio, wildlife in the yard, and a neighborhood that genuinely rewards slow exploration on foot or by bike.

The Space

The bedroom opens through sliding glass doors onto a private patio with mountain views. Deer pass through the yard and alley regularly, and in summer evenings bears occasionally wander through the neighborhood. The outdoor dining area gets steady bird traffic through the day — mornings out there with coffee tend to stretch longer than planned. Out front, a small porch with a daybed faces the street. Hummingbirds are regulars, and the neighborhood has enough foot traffic that it's a good spot for watching the world go by. It has the feel of a place where you actually get to know where you are. Inside, the house is filled with natural light and houseplants, warm without being fussy. The living space is comfortable and well put together, with board games on hand for slower evenings. There's a dedicated home office that works well for anyone needing a quiet place to read or get work done. The enclosed backyard is fully fenced and relaxed — guests traveling with dogs tend to make the most of it, but it's easy to just sit out there and do nothing, which is its own appeal. Cruiser bikes are available to borrow for getting around the neighborhood.

Neighbourhood

Ivywild has a distinct character that most Colorado Springs neighborhoods don't. It's walkable, creative, and local in the way that actually means something. The Ivywild School is a short walk from the front door — a beautifully restored historic building with Bristol Brewery, Axe & Oak Whiskey distillery, and the Principal's Office Cafe all inside. The Caffeinated Cow is a neighborhood institution for coffee and ice cream. Josh & John's is a Colorado Springs staple and an easy walk. The Creekwalk is close for a casual stroll. Omelets Etc. is the go-to for breakfast; Panino's for Italian. A few steps down the street, neighbors run a small homestead where you can pick up fresh sourdough, cookies, and honey. It's the kind of thing that makes the neighborhood feel like a neighborhood. Summer adds a lot. Friday nights at the Ivywild School bring outdoor concerts to the neighborhood. Creekside Concerts run every Thursday evening within easy walking distance, surrounded by good places to eat before or after. If you've brought your own mountain bike, Stratton Open Space is rideable from the house and has some of the best trail systems in the city. North Cheyenne Cañon is bikeable from here too, with hiking trails, waterfalls, and Helen Hunt Falls worth the ride. The cruiser bikes are better suited for everything closer in — the neighborhood, the Creekwalk, the Ivywild School. Broadmoor Resort and Cheyenne Mountain Zoo are both five minutes by car. Red Rock Canyon is four miles out, Garden of the Gods five. Old Colorado City is ten minutes, Manitou Springs fifteen.

Nearest airport

Colorado Springs Airport (COS) is about 20 minutes from the house and the easiest option for most travelers. Denver International (DEN) is roughly 90 minutes north on I-25, with more flight options for international travel or less common domestic routes. Most people flying into Colorado Springs specifically find COS the obvious choice.

Getting Around

Most of what you'll want day to day — coffee, food, grocery, brewery — is walkable or a short bike ride from the house. A car opens up the wider trail systems and attractions around the city, but it's not essential for the first part of most days. Uber and Lyft are both readily available if you're without one.
