General overview
This spacious modern house is in an old residential neighbourhood--a 20-minute walk from the historic centre of the city and with small shops and restaurants very close by. We go nearly everywhere on foot.
The space
Two bedrooms are on the main level: a large, light-filled master bedroom with kingsized bed (Mexican style--2 singles put together) and en suite bathroom; and a second large bedroom with two twin beds that can be put together, also with an ensuite bathroom. A lower level has a third bedrom with bathroom and kitchenette. Stairs lead to the second level of the house, where the kitchen, living room, powder room and patio are. An outdoor spiral staircase takes you to the roof, with a fantastic view and two long wooden swings under a shade structure for relaxing.
Guest access
Not for anyone with mobility issues. The house is located uphill--about 70 steps to get to the house, and a staircase of 15 steps leads from the bedroom level to the kitchen and living room.
Notes
Guanajuato is about an hour bus trip from San Miguel de Allende, another colonial city known for its baroque Spanish architecture, thriving arts scene and cultural festivals. The neo-Gothic church Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel is In the city’s historic, cobblestoned centre.
