General Overview

My home is in the historic Village Green in Los Angeles, a garden community development built in the 1940s. We have a stunning canopy of nearly 100-year old trees and beautifully landscaped grounds. Conveniently located, close to LAX and Culver City. The Village Green is a beautiful example of Garden Apartment developments. The units are very modest -- the landscaping is the star. The Space

**I will add more photographs of the rooms in the house** This 1940s-era apartment has spacious rooms and high ceilings. The space is ideal for one or two adults, and up to two children. The one bedroom apartment is 1100 square feet on the second floor of a two-story building. The bedroom has a queen-sized bed. There is a combined dining area / living room that has two love seats that unfold into two twin beds. This corner unit is located on the west side of Village Green with windows facing South, West and North. There is a patio on the ground floor and a balcony. In addition to the bedroom and dining / living room, there is an office, kitchen, and bathroom. Most of the apartment is hardwood flooring. The bathroom is tiled, the bedroom and hallways are carpeted. There are high ceilings and casement windows -- the apartment is full of light, and every window has a view. I've lived at Village Green over 20 years, and people tend to stay for long periods of time. Many residents are owners; some are renters. There are regular community events, especially around holidays and over the summer, when there are concerts on the main Green. I know my neighbors and they will be happy to be a contact for any questions you have about the community. There is a laundry room in the parking area in each garage court in the Village Green. There is also an outdoor clothing line. There is a key to the laundry room, which also opens the area for community trash and recycling.

Guest Access

My unit is on the second floor of a two-story building. There are also three steps to reach my front door. I'm happy to discuss car exchange. I own a Chevrolet Spark that technically seats four (and has four doors), although the back seat suits smaller adults or children best! My car is in a garage on the grounds, in a shared area with garages and parking spaces. There is parking available if you decide to rent your own vehicle. The Village Green has a main office staffed during the week.

Notes

The Village Green is in the Baldwin Hills neighborhood.

Neighbourhood

The Village Green is located near the intersection of Obama Boulevard and La Cienega Boulevard, about a 30-minute drive from LAX. We are located near fantastic outdoor public space with terrific hiking, including : Kenneth Hahn State Park https://parks.lacounty.gov/kenneth-hahn-state-recreation-area/ Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook parks.ca.gov/?page_id=22790 We are close to Culver City, the historic location of many movie studios, and current home to Sony. Culver City has parks, shopping, restaurants, movie theaters and a weekly Farmer's Market. https://www.culvercity.gov/Home Village Green is close to the Los Angeles Metro's Exposition Line, where you can board trains east to downtown Los Angeles and west to Culver City and Santa Monica. It is possible to get from either of the two stations near my house to the airport at LAX on the Metro. https://www.metro.net/

Getting to my home

You can reach my home from the airport, LAX, with a car, taxi or ride share. It is about a 30 minute drive, although it can be longer depending on traffic and the time of day. Los Angeles has a Metro System, and Village Green is located near the Exposition Line. It is possible to get from either of the two stations near my house to the airport at LAX on the Metro, but it does involve changing trains. I have not taken the train to the airport yet, but I'd say it would take about 90 minutes door-to-door. (Walk to the metro, take a train, change trains, arrive at LAX, bus or people-mover to the terminal.) You can reach my home from the train station in downtown Los Angeles, Union Station, with the bus, Metro or by car (taxi or ride share).

Nearest airport

LAX Los Angeles International is the closest airport.

Getting Around

It is possible to walk from Village Green to several grocery stores, to two metro stations, and to several bus stops. There are cafes and small restaurants within walking distance.

Caroline

Hello PLU community, I'm Caroline, a university professor. I was born in France and grew up moving frequently -- my mother is French, my American Dad was in the military. I've lived in the U.S., France, Germany, Austria and Saudi Arabia. I speak French and English. I am looking for exchanges with a preference for cities. Although I'm focused on the European Union in the short term, I am truly interested in all countries and cultures, and eager to re-visit places I love as well as places I've never been. I have a wonderful set-up in Los Angeles -- a real urban sanctuary. I am excited to explore home-exchange as a mode of travel. I hope to visit more than one Scandinavian country in summer 2027. I am open to all destinations, and both short and longer exchanges. I travel solo, as well as with my sister or friends. I am a non-smoker, and appreciate clean and organized spaces. I really like the PLU practice of treating fellow members' homes as if they are my own. I will treat your space with the care I bring to my home.
