Hiking and cycling trails begin right at our doorstep, winding through vineyards into the woods, and a fascinating arboretum of trees from around the world lies close by. Freiburg's "Green City" fame is no accident: we border Vauban, a pioneering sustainable district, and the famous solar Heliotrop house stands nearby - its architect is our next-door neighbour (www.rolfdisch.de). Families will love the farm-themed adventure playground 15 minutes away (www.kinderabenteuerhof.de), and eight minutes on foot brings you to an idyllic village brook where people picnic right by the shallow water. We're truly at the gateway to three countries: easy day trips reach Basel and Zurich, Strasbourg and Colmar, Baden-Baden and Lake Constance - and Paris is about three hours by direct fast train. Europa-Park (Europe's second-largest theme park) and the huge Badeparadies Schwarzwald spa are close by too.

Getting Around

Getting around is wonderfully easy — you won't need a car. The tram connects directly to the centre and main station, and public bikes and e-scooters are all over the city. You are also invited to use 1-3 of our bicycles.
