General Overview

Our home is a typical single family home for the area we live in. It is located in a quiet residential neighbourhood in Lynn Valley, North Vancouver. Within a few minutes walk from here you will have access to the stunning nature of the Northshore mountains and Lynn Canyon Park. If you love forest walks, swimming in ice cold creeks, hiking, trail running, mountain biking or winter sports, you will be hard pressed to find a more ideal location and still be very close to the city of Vancouver. The house has lovely protected garden with views of the local mountains and you are only an easy 12 minute walk away from cafes, grocery stores, drug stores, public transit, etc.

The Space

The living area is distributed over two levels: A main floor with an open kitchen-dining-living area, a master bedroom with a queen size bed and an ensuite bathroom plus two additional bedrooms (both single beds) and a shared full bathroom. We are in the process of renovating our bedrooms, so photos will be posted as soon as we are done! On the lower floor you will have access to an additional basic guest bedroom (queen bed), a toilet/powder room, a laundry/dryer space, as well as our pantry and a well-equipped workshop. The house has a double garage that we have converted into a flex space including a projector & large screen for movie nights, comfy chairs and basic gym equipment for those of us who can't sit still...

Notes

From our home you can reach Squamish (1 hr) and Whistler (1 hr 45 min) by taking the spectacular Sea-To-Sky Highway (Hwy 99). The nearest BC Ferries terminal is in Horseshoe Bay, an easy 20 min drive away. From there you will have ferry connections to Nanaimo/Vancouver Island, Gibsons/Sunshine Coast and Bowen Island. The nearest beaches are at Ambleside Park and in Deep Cove - both about 20 min away. In Deep Cove you have access to kayak rentals to explore Indian Arm.

Neighbourhood

Lynn Valley is one of the most desirable neighbourhoods for families in the Greater Vancouver area. It has excellent schools, access to all amenities including Community Centers with modern sports facilities that can be accessed by anyone for very moderate fees. Most importantly, it is a welcoming and friendly community. People say hello to each other, smile and like to chat. If you are looking for dine-out options, you will find a limited selection around the Lynn Valley Center. For a wider selection (incl. Japanese, Korean, Persian, Italian, etc) head over to Lonsdale Ave between the highway and Lonsdale Quay Market and The Shipyards (aka Lower Lonsdale). Here you will also find the Shipyards Brewery District, if experiencing our vibrant craft beer scene is your thing. There you also can visit the Polygon Art Gallery and the Museum of North Vancouver (Monova). Lonsdale Quay is also the access point to the Sea Bus, which connects North Vancouver and Downtown Vancouver by passenger ferry.

Nearest airport

Vancouver International Airport is a 50 min taxi ride away.

Lene and Marcus

We are a retired couple living in a wonderful part of North Vancouver. Originally from Denmark (Lene) and Germany (Marcus), we have lived in Canada and this home for over 24 years. We have raised our kids here and made Canada our home. We love the outdoors, being active and equally enjoy and seek out cultural experiences. Our children have left the house and, as newbies to home exchanges, we are exploring the options that this way of traveling may offer. We are very experienced travelers, who are content with functional accommodation. We value cleanliness and good communication, are responsible and respectful guests, and we will take very good care of your home. While we are generally flexible with our time, we have highlighted those periods, where our home will definitively be available. However, please do not hesitate to inquire about stays at other times. We may just move things around and seize the opportunity...
