Neighbourhood
Nimbin is a bit of a tourist attraction due to the 1970's Aquarius Festival and the ensuing counterculture movement that remained. It's a colourful, vibrant little town with great cafes and a decent food emporium, a weekly local farmers market, an organic food Co-op and lots of little gift stores and art galleries.
On weekends the town bustles with tourists, musicians and live performances - there's even a gelato shop, a historic candle factory happy to give demonstrations, a beautiful apothecary making wonderful balms and tinctures.
The first thing you will notice is the focus on hemp but scratch a little deeper and you will find a warm, welcoming, vibrant community focused on natural organic products and creative expression.
The best bit is the strategic location:
1 hour from Byron Bay
1.20 hours from Kingscliff
1.10 hours to Lennox Heads
45 minutes to Bangalow and Murwillumbah for the Tweed Regional Gallery and the Margaret Olley Centre (which is fantastic if you are a fan)
25 minutes to Nightcap National Part and some of the most beautiful national parks and waterfalls in NSW
Getting to my home
Just over an hour to Coolangatta airport and also Ballina airport.
2.5 hours drive from Brisbane CBD.
Nearest airport
Coolangatta airport is just over an hour away and we are two and a half hours from Brisbane.
Getting Around
You will need a car as we are 4 kilometers from Nimbin, half an hour away from Lismore which has all the major shopping stores. Uki (20 minutes away) has a gorgeous pub and Murwillumbah and Kyogle within 40 minutes. One hour away from Byron Bay, just over an hour away from Mullumbimby and Kingscliff.
