General Overview
Located on the ground floor of a 2024 condo, this 2 bedroom spot looks out into an organic avocado grove with the ocean beyond. The heated private pool is saltwater, the yard has a shower, outdoor seating and a kitchen for outdoor dining. I’m a short walk to the nearest grocery stores and the train station, as well as nearby restaurants and the heart of Tavira. I don’t have a car because it’s easy to get around without one. The location is great also because it is near the highway for exploring and far enough from the center action of festivals that you can enjoy peace if you choose.
The building is 24 units. It has a small gym on the ground floor. There’s also a large swimming pool and deck chairs on the roof with a beautiful view of the surrounding area that is open to all guests from 9:00-22:00.
My daughter also has a home on PLU in Huntington Beach, California https://peoplelikeus.world/properties/38512
The Space
The condo is best suited for 2-3 adults. The kitchen is modern and includes a dishwasher, washing machine and all the basics, including a separate wine fridge. The main table is set up to seat 2 but with the extra chairs can accommodate 4. Outside dining can also accommodate up to 4 people.
There are 2 bedrooms. One has a queen bed the other currently has my office and a single bed that pulls out into a double. The living room sofa also makes into a queen bed. The main bathroom is located in the master bedroom with the queen bed. The half bath is located just off the living room.
Guest Access
The apartment is on ground 0 of a 3 story building. There are about 5 steps up from the gated entrance. Access to the building is by code. I have a lockbox for a key. There is a members swimming pool and lounge area on the 3rd floor with spectacular views and a small gym on the ground floor. There are 2 elevators but they only go to the 2nd floor so you would need to walk up a flight of stairs to reach the members pool.
There is plenty of street parking in the area. Garage parking is extremely limited by the size of your vehicle at this time. Most cars will not fit.
Notes
1) Very important to remove the house key when you leave or you will lock yourself out of the apartment.
2) I have a very trustworthy pool service that needs pool access on Friday afternoons. Sid has to walk through the house to access the pool. He knocks first, but if no one answers I have given him permission to enter. He cannot enter if you have the key in the lock.

Neighbourhood
I have very amiable neighbors. The neighbor that shares a hallway with me is an attorney from Lisbon. We share a hallway and yes, just over the fence so when he’s there, you may well hear him. On the other side I have a couple who also live in Lisbon. They are Brazilian and also very nice. The neighbors on both sides speak excellent English. At the moment, I don’t have anyone living above me, but I expect that to change.
Getting to my home
To get to my house here in Tavira it’s very easy if you’re driving because it’s not far off the 125 highway. If you’re coming by train, it’s also pretty easy unless you have a huge amount of luggage. I sometimes take the train and sometimes I take an Uber from the airport in Faro.
Nearest airport
Faro International Airport is a 30 minute drive. I normally take a Bolt or Uber.
Getting Around
I’m 3 minutes walking to the nearest super market, right next to an organic farm store, 8 minutes walking to the train station and 15 minutes walking to the town square and river in Tavira.

Hola! I’m lucky enough to live in 3 worlds! My main home is in Portugal. Sometimes I am gone for long periods as a slow traveler that likes a deep dive into new places. I’m quite interested in cultural immersion. I have special interests in art and genealogy. I often travel with my Dutch partner, Rob, sometimes with family (which can include my two adult kids and their partners or occasionally a grandchild) and sometimes I travel solo. I managed two very successful Airbnb’s over nine years in California before moving to Europe and overall I have 100s of reviews as both a host and traveler so I understand requirements.
