Built over a century ago with a mid-sixties update, our home, while not flashy or extravagant, radiates a seaside ambiance that immediately puts guests in “on vacation” mode. Our house features an abundance of natural light, with all day sun streaming through the windows. The front of the house faces the rising sun, gently warming and brightening the front rooms. Outside the french doors the view of the Hauraki Gulf, sailboats dotting the water and seagulls soaring overhead, presents a scenic vista. The front deck, with its view of Auckland’s iconic volcanic cone, Rangitoto is a prime spot to catch the morning sun while enjoying a leisurely coffee. Just steps from the house, a short bush trail leads you to the vibrant Browns Bay Village and Beach – perfect for morning coffee, seaside dining, local markets, and sunset strolls. The area offers a stunning string of golden beaches, each with its own charm – Waiake, Browns Bay, and nearby Long Bay are perfect for swimming, paddleboarding, or simply soaking up the views. Scenic coastal walks and cliffside lookouts wind along the shore, offering panoramic views of the Hauraki Gulf and its islands. ⚢ Kia ora! We are a mature couple living on the North Shore of Auckland, New Zealand. I am Canadian (from Vancouver) and my partner Theresa is Australian (from Tamworth). We are semi-retired; I am a psychotherapist and Theresa is a medical administrator. We have 4 adult children, 2 daughter-in-laws, and one adorable baby grandson. We love slow travelling to new locations for long stays so that we can immerse ourselves in local life and culture. We have family in Canada, Australia, and Vietnam and travel to these countries as much as possible.We also enjoy exploring New Zealand and would enjoy weekend exchanges (preferably within a half day's drive!) with other Kiwis. Our house is a 100 year old typical Kiwi bungalow. It’s bright, clean and comfortable. We have 3 lovely, easy-care cats who will happily keep our guests company. 😻 Te We are close to the village and to the beach and located in a great position for exploring the coastal reserves, towns and bush north of Auckland. While we are new to house exchanging, we have decades experience house-sitting and pet-sitting for many wonderful people in many amazing places.
