Our home is a hidden little cozy place in the green suburbs of Budapest. We refurbished the house ourselves and we love it with all the imperfections. The garden is a true gem surrounded by tall trees and evergreens that provide cool shade even in the hottest summer days.
Located on a quiet street with almost no traffic, it offers a great place to relax while staying well connected to the city — Budapest’s center is just 20 minutes away by public transport. Everything you need for a peaceful stay is close at hand: a farmers’ market, a small forest, playgrounds and a bicycle route that runs along the stream.
Within 30-40 minutes you can reach Városliget with its Museums, Galeries, the House of Music and the Széchenyi Bath; the Central Market Hall; Deák Ferenc tér with the Budapest Basilica, and the Parliament.
Great day trips ideas could be to visit Szentendre, Eger, the Pilis woods or the Buda hills.
Budapest is a good starting point to discover Central-Eastern Europe - Vienna and Bratislava are 2,5h away by train.
For mountain lovers, High Tatras could be a great destination - compact, offers a variety of trails for all the skills, well connected by a little tram and only 5h away by car.
The Space
Our two-level home is ideal for small families or couples. It has appr. 100 sqm, the master bedroom is upstairs, downstairs is another bedroom which is furbished at the moment for a small child (although neither of our daughters slept one single night in it). Our living room has a sofa bed which is also possible to use. The building is old, it has adobe walls which means the ground floor is naturally cool even in summer. We have no AC or TV.
Guest Access
The staircase is a bit steep, you have to mind your steps coming downstairs.
Notes
The fifth member of the family is Cirmos, our cat. She is friendly, calm, and enjoys relaxing around the house. Clean and well-behaved. She is low-maintanence, you can plan short trips (3-4 days) during your stay. She enjoys a little love and attention.

Neighbourhood
Our neighborhood is green, quiet, and friendly, with helpful neighbors. Public transport connections are great: the suburban train (2 stops) goes to the Metro Line 2 Hub, Örs vezér tere. A local farmers’ market is only two streets away, and the area offers plenty of opportunities for daily walks, running or cycling.
Getting to my home
Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport is 21 kms away. From there, you can reach us by public transport in an hour. If you arrive by car there is a parking space in front of the house suitable for a smaller car, and additional free parking is available nearby.
Getting Around
For grocery shopping, the best option is the local farmers’ market, which is open from Tuesday to Saturday and offers fresh produce and local products. The nearest supermarkets are just 1–2 stops away by bus or HÉV. There are also great bakeries around.

Anita
We are a family of four - Anita (Hungarian) Mircea (Romanian), Szofi (2023) and Stefi (2026).
I work in the social filed at a private foundation and my husband is a telecommunications engineer. We love travelling and since we have our camper van we are a lot on the road. We love trekking in the mountains, big favourite is the High Tatrtas in Slovakia, but also the Carpatians in Romania and the Ausitrian Alps. We do appreciate bigger cities, good food and coffee, meeting people and chilling in campings by the lake. We are new on the site, looking for our first exchange. I am currently on maternity leave and my husband works remotely, therefore we are flexible and ready to exchange almost any time.
Europe is always an easier option for us as we have two small daughters but we are open to any destinations.
We have a low-maintenance cat who moves freely between the house and the garden - she would not travel with us so cat lovers are very much welcome :)
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
