Neighbourhood

Tarragindi is one of Brisbane’s most coveted southern suburbs, known for its hilly terrain and elevated views. It feels like a quiet village tucked into the forest, yet it’s only 7km from the bright lights of the city. It is a place where you’ll wake up to the sound of kookaburras rather than traffic.

Getting to my home

Getting to our home from Brisbane International Airport is incredibly straightforward and usually takes about 20 to 25 minutes. You’ll exit the airport and hop straight onto the M7/Airport Link, which is a modern tunnel system that bypasses all the city-center traffic. This connects seamlessly onto the M3/Pacific Motorway heading south. You essentially stay on a high-speed, well-signed motorway for 90% of the journey. You’ll take the Marshall Road exit in Tarragindi. From that exit, it is only a final 2 or 3-minute drive through our leafy local streets to arrive at our front door. It’s a very stress-free introduction to the city, even if you’ve just stepped off a long-haul flight!

Getting Around

The joy of living in Tarragindi is that there are no major roads through the suburb so traffic is light. You can easily walk to one of the local 4 cafes for coffee, or if you need essentials there are 3 local convenience stores in walking distance. Backyard Gem: Toohey Forest (Tarragindi) As Tarragindi locals, we are incredibly lucky to have Toohey Forest right on our doorstep. While others drive for hours to find nature, we have 260 hectares of bushland just minutes away. What Toohey Forest offers: Walking Trails: There’s a track for everyone. The Sandstone Circuit is a quick 30-minute loop with great boulders, while the Nathan Ridge Track is perfect for a longer, more immersive hike. The Views: Don’t miss the Mt Gravatt Outlook for a panoramic view of the Brisbane CBD and out toward Moreton Bay. Wildlife: It’s a haven for over 400 species. Keep your eyes peeled for koalas, echidnas, and the powerful owls that call this forest home. Picnic Spots: The Toohey Picnic Area (off Toohey Rd) has great BBQ facilities and sheltered tables, making it an easy spot for a family lunch. Whether you're a runner hitting the trails or just looking for a quiet place to escape the suburbia for an hour, Toohey Forest is the lungs of our local community. Exploring the Best of Southeast Queensland: From City Lights to Coastal Vibes Living in Brisbane gives us the perfect "home base" to explore some of the most iconic destinations in Australia. Whether you’re looking for a weekend surf, a mountain hike, or a world-class meal, the "Golden Triangle" of Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and the Sunshine Coast has it all. 🏙️ Brisbane: The River City Brisbane is blooming into a global city, but it hasn’t lost its laid-back charm. South Bank: Grab a coffee and stroll through the Arbour, or take a dip at Streets Beach, the only inner-city man-made beach in the country. Story Bridge: For a bit of a thrill, the Adventure Climb offers a perspective of the city you can’t get anywhere else. Howard Smith Wharves: The ultimate spot for sunset drinks and dining right under the bridge. 🏄 The Gold Coast: Sun, Surf & Thrills Just an hour south, the Gold Coast is where high-energy fun meets pristine nature. Theme Parks: From the hair-raising rides at Dreamworld to the water slides at Wet’n’Wild, it’s a family paradise. Burleigh Heads: A local favorite for a surf or a picnic on the hill as the sun goes down. Springbrook National Park: If you need a break from the sand, head to the Hinterland for the "Natural Bridge" waterfall and ancient rainforests. ⛱️ The Sunshine Coast: Relaxed & Refined Heading north, the vibe slows down just enough for total relaxation. Noosa National Park: Walk the coastal track for a chance to spot koalas and dolphins. The Glass House Mountains: Dramatic volcanic peaks that offer incredible hiking and photography opportunities. Eumundi Markets: One of Australia’s biggest and best artisan markets—perfect for a Saturday morning hunt for treasures.
