General Overview

Our home is a beautiful old house that used to be the village store and bakery shop. We renovated everything, and it is now a very comfortable and spacious home with a lovely garden. Our cosy village is in the middle of a nature reserve.

The Space

We have a large open kitchen and eating room that is connected to the garden. When the weather is nice you can open all the doors, so it's as if you are outside. The living room has another large table and a big sofa, and there's a separate tv room. Upstairs there are 3 sleeping rooms, a spacious bathroom and a small gym. The garden is lush and green with old trees.

Guest Access

2 floors. The ground floor is accessible with wheel chair, but to reach the first floor you have to use stairs.

Neighbourhood

The surroundings are stunning. We are located in the middle of a nature reserve called De Kroondomeinen - this 10.500 ha area is owned by the Dutch Royal Family, and has been preserved since 300 years. De Veluwe with it's national park De Hoge Veluwe are also around the corner. Hoog Soeren itself is a small village with 250 inhabitants. It has 3 restaurants, a nice little church and a golf course. Places to visit are: the Royal Palace 't Loo, the beautiful old city of Deventer, the Kröller Möller museum in Park de Hoge Veluwe.

Getting to my home

Our home is very easy to reach by car (55 minutes drive from Amsterdam), by train (10 minutes from the Apeldoorn train station. Hoog Soeren is a favorite with cyclists, so bike is also a good option.

Schiphol Airport, 55 minutes drive

Getting Around

We live very close to the city of Apeldoorn (8 minutes by car to do grocery shopping). The village has 3 restaurants, and there are several nice places to visit around us, ie the Aardhuis, an old hunting lodge from the Royal family.

Hi, I am Marianne. I live in a small village in the middle of beautiful forests (the kings hunting grounds, called De Kroondomeinen) in the Netherlands together with my husband Han and son Teun (19). Our daughter Jip (22) is a student, and lives at campus. My husband and me love the outdoors: cycling and walking, and we live in the perfect spot for that. I work in sustainability, and Han is a real geek and loves developing new stuff. To complete the family, we have 3 really cuddly cats who love to join us wherever we are in the house. We don't have exchange experience - up till now we always found friends to housesit during our holidays.
