We have two homes next door to each other in the historic Centro of San Miguel de Allende.
The Bird House is 2-bedroom, 2-bath, with a dedicated study (with day bed), living room with big TV, big terrace, and dining room. Well-equipped kitchen. The house features several paintings by Rafael Ontiveros, a local artist whose work has appeared internationally at 4 biennales; he also painted the big mural on the terrace. The house is full of whimsy, with painted doorways and eclectic decor. King bed and queen bed, plus a sofa that turns into a queen bed downstairs with a full bath a curtains for privacy if you need an extra room. Colorful with lots of cactus on the roof terrace.

Casa Laura is Mexican modern with an atrium in the center and floor-to-ceiling glass doors. It has two bedrooms with ensuite full baths, a powder room, a dedicated study, a well-equipped kitchen, a patio, and two terraces -- the one on the top has a sweeping view of town. The house is elegant and tasteful, with lots of photos from local photographers and folk art. The "jewel box" had consistent 5-star reviews when it was on AirBnB. 

Both homes have a housekeeper 1x/week and a gardener and a local concierge. Extremely good location in the historic Centro, with a flat walk to the central jardin and Parroquia, near lots of cafes, restaurants, and galleries.

Laura

We are a couple in our 60s (writer and musician) who own two townhouses in the Centro of San Miguel de Allende but spend most of our time in San Francisco in the Haight-Ashbury, where we've lived for decades. Laura has been a travel writer and is the author of several books; she bought and built her first house in San Miguel de Allende in 2008. Peter is a jazz guitarist with a day job designing and managing retail facilities (he can fix anything). Laura speaks fluent Spanish and Italian and dances Cuban salsa. Peter is working on his Spanish! Our houses feature local art and artisan pieces and are suitable for people who love to explore a new town on foot and be in the center of the action on a quiet street. We are looking to exchange mainly in Spain and Italy, though we're open to other countries. We are super responsible people who will take impeccable care of your home.
