General Overview

Our home is in east London, Wanstead, about 3miles from Stratford and the Olympic Park, which is beautiful, Stratford also has a large shopping centre (Westfield), a theatre and more. We are also close to trendy bars and restaurants in Leytonstone, Hackney and City for foodies, and the west end theatres and galleries are about 45mins on public transport. The house is in a quiet street, surrounded by similar properties and surrounded by green space and has a lot of history for anyone interested in the back story! It’s a great space for families or anyone wishing for some quiet away from the bustle of London!

The Space

We have 4 bedrooms. - One in the loft, with an ensuite shower room, desk and seating area. - Three bedrooms on the first floor, two large doubles both with bay windows – one to the front and one to the rear of the house. - The master bedroom has access to the bathroom, which has a bath, sink and loo and is next to a small office space. - The second large bedroom has its own shower and sink and storage space. - The fourth bedroom has a double sofa bed - small but cute! On the ground floor there is a large kitchen space, with all the usual amenities and large bi fold doors leading onto the garden, plus a lot of house plants. The dining room can easily seat 6-8 guests, there is also a lounge area, again, with more than enough space for 6-8 people to sit and chat or watch TV The garden is landscaped with a patio seating area and flower borders, there is also a studio space, with heating.

Guest Access

The house is accessed through the front garden (a key lock is in the porch). There are a couple of steps into the property, otherwise step free.

Neighbourhood

The houses around us are all quite similar, built from 1900 – 1950’s, with some quirky differences. The area is very quiet off the main roads, with trees. Wanstead has a village style high street, a 20min walk through Epping Forest, or 10-15min bus ride, with cafe, bars, restaurants and shops. We are surrounded by green space, with a tea hut in Wanstead Park (2min walk away) and flat open grass land often used for football about 5 mins walk away. There is also one of the largest cemeteries in Europe a 5 mins walk away, which is lovely to walk through. There are plenty of pubs to choose from, a petrol station and a small supermarket about 5 mins walk away

Getting to my home

Car - we have car parking permits for visitors, which are available for the whole day and parking is easy on the street. Pubic transport - Manor Park Station (Elizabeth Line) and either a walk or a bus to the house. Wanstead Tube station and a walk or a bus to the house.

Nearest airport

Stansted - 45mins by car (M11) 60-90mins by bus or train Heathrow - 75 - 90 mins public transport Elizabeth line straight through to Manor Park) Gatwick - apprx 2hrs public transport (train and Elizabeth Line to Manor Park) and by car approx 60-90mins

Getting Around

- There are two stations - Manor Park for the Elizabeth Line or Wanstead tube station, for the central line (red), both go into the centre of London. With lots of connections to get to your destination. These can be walked to or take a bus. - Epping Forest is a 2min walk away, with lakes, wooded areas and a tea hut - Wanstead village high street is a 10-15min bus ride, with cafe, bars, restaurants and shops. It can also be 20min walk though the forest. - There is a small super market about 5 mins walk away and a petrol station.

Justine

We are a couple, Justine and Andy - we’ve lived and raised a family in east london but are originally from Kent and Lancashire. We’ve lived in our current home since 2007. It’s seen a lot changes, additions, but remains a calm, quiet sanctuary in such a large city. More importantly it’s been home for our three daughters, who are now fabulous women living their own lives and exploring their new adventures. We both love art (we have a lot of artwork on our walls!), indoor plants and gardening, love food, theatre, walking and chilling! We also adore our three cats! We both worked in education and now enjoy a slightly less hectic life, living at the edge of Epping Forest and the luxury of great connections by train into central london close by. It’s about 20mins! One of our daughters lives in Copenhagen so we are super keen to have regular swaps in the city so we can visit her. But also starting to explore wider across Europe and the world as we work less and play more!
