General Overview

Welcome to our garden flat situated on a historic square in Hove. Less than 5 minutes stroll to the beach, local cafes, restaurants and bars but in a quiet, peaceful location with private courtyard garden. Within 30 minutes walk, or a short bus ride from the the top of the road, you are in central Brighton. A small Tesco and Sainsburys are less than 10 minutes walk. If you fancy venturing further a field you can get to London by train in just over an hour from Brighton station.

The Space

On entering the flat there is a lobby area with a desk that can be used as an office space. This opens out into a large hall area with electric piano and drum kit (please only use with headphones in so as not to disturb the neighbours). To your left you'll see the bedroom and ensuite with bath, separate shower cubicle and toilet. The bed is a fold down wall bed with a comfortable, regular double mattress. There are rails to hang clothes and a dressing table. The room also has some limited gym equipment in it such as free weights which guests are welcome to use. At the back of the property is the kitchen and large lounge / dining area that opens out on to the private courtyard garden. There is an extra toilet off of the hall, just next to the lounge. A washing machine and clothes drying area is available - see the utility cupboard opposite the drum kit.

Guest Access

There is an exterior flight of steps to get down to the flat. The flat has it's own front door.

Notes

You are welcome to bring one small dog but please let us know beforehand. The flat isn't suitable for larger dogs. Bed linen and regular towels will be provided. However if you are planning to go for a sea swim please could you bring your own beach towels. In order to not disturb the neighbours we ask that you keep quiet hours between 10pm and 9am.

Neighbourhood

We're in a quiet area but less than 5 minutes stroll to the pebble beach, independent shops, cafes, restaurants and bars of Hove. There is a lovely sense of community in the local area. We also have a small park immediately opposite the property so the apartment is great for dog owners. There are dog friendly beaches within an easy walk from the apartment too. There is always plenty going on in the wider city of Brighton & Hove and this local website gives a good flavour - https://www.visitbrighton.com/ Key events and festivals include: Brighton Festival - Three weeks each May. Largest multi-arts festival in England. Brightonfestival.org Brighton Fringe Festival – open access festival running alongside the main Brighton Festival each May. www.brightonfringe.org Artists Open Houses – Across the weekends of May and December, Open Houses provides a unique opportunity for visitors to visit artists in their homes in the local area. It is a fun way to visit different parts of the city and see some lovely art. www.aoh.org.uk Brighton Pride – Early August. https://www.brighton-pride.org/

Getting to my home

We can be quickly reached by bus, taxi or a 30 minute walk from Brighton or Hove stations. If you are coming by car here is long stay street parking on Second Ave or Grand Ave using the PaybyPhone app.

Gatwick is our nearest airport and can be reached by train or car.

Getting Around

There are bus stops for multiple routes at the top of our road. We don't provide our own bikes for use but you can hire e-bikes (https://beryl.cc/index.php/scheme/brighton-and-hove) on the seafront just down from our flat and there is a cycle path in both directions along the seafront.

Roz & Chris

We're Roz and Chris from Brighton and Hove in East Sussex, England where we live near the sea. We feel lucky to be able to mainly work remotely so are free to travel and make our flat available, including for non reciprocal swaps. We're new to house swapping but have used Airbnb a lot and have also started doing pet sits through Trusted Housesitters. We love where we live and are looking forward to giving others the opportunity of experiencing all that Brighton and Hove has to offer whilst getting the opportunity to travel, meet new people and live like a local elsewhere.
