We live in a magical, 2 story, adobe brick house in the middle of a mango grove, about 10 min away from several beaches. It is quiet and peaceful. The sound of the jungle lull is to sleep every night.

The Space

We live in a well equipped yet simply furnished 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom home with a sweet yard..  

Both toilets are dry compost (no water).

We have lots of windows allowing for great ventilation and light. Ceiling fans are in every room and there is an a/c in the living room and one bedroom.

Plenty of parking.

We are building a loft be in my daughters room. Once that project is done I will add photos of her room and the yard. Her room is a bit bigger than my room with lovely lighting, a full bed on the top loft and a kids chill area down below -  full of books, toys, puzzles.. the chill space can easily accommodate 2 single beds. We have really comfy mats we use for this purpose that you are welcome too.

The “couch” in the living room also opens for sleeping.

The yard is simple and sweet. Outdoor furniture coming soon (and before any guests arrive).

Guest Access

The bedrooms are on the second floor, accessible by a long staircase (we have high ceilings). The compost toilets are elevated and require one to step up into a platform to use them.

There is an extra room, we will likely use to store our belongings.

Notes

There are 3 bodegas in Las Lomas proper that have most basic things. The selection of offering in LDM and SP are better, with great fruterías, “mini-super” markets, bakeries, restaurants, etc.

We get organic and high quality meat, cheese, and produce delivered once a week and can help arrange the same got you if you are interested.

Neighbourhood

There is an amazing school / ceremonial center and about 12 homes tucked away in the jungle near us - no stores or restaurants.

A river flows with clean cool water in the rainy session, just a 2 min walk behind our home.

The towns of San Pancho (San Francisco) and Lo De Marcos are 7 and 8 minutes away respectively.  Sayulita is 15 min away.

During the rainy season a lovely river flows about 3 minutes behind our house - a nice spot for cool dips on a hot day.

Las Lomas proper is across the carretera from us (a 2 min drive).  And San Pancho (San Francisco) and Lo De Marcos are respectively  7 and 8 minutes away by car. Between LL, SP and LDM you can access amazing beaches, great surfing,  restaurants and shops. a circus school, an artisan workshop, 2 amazing community centers with all kinds of fun activities and resources for young and old, as well as many other venue offering classes and cultural events.  

Our location is a quiet idyllic  haven that is both away from and very close to all the hustle bustle.

Getting to my home

We have great access to transportation. A 5 min walk down the lane and you are at the carretera - the main road that runs between Puerto Vallarta and La Penita and everything in between (Sayulita, Busecrias, Nuevo Vallarta, San Pancho, Lo de Marcos, and more). Pretty much any bus you get on will take you to/through all of the towns for 50 pesos, including picking you up / dropping you off right in front of the PVA airport.

Guadalajara is a 3 hour drive or simple but ride to the east. 

We have a car and are happy to explore doing a car swap.  Drivers here are a bit crazy and the carretera can be dangerous at night.

Nearest airport

PVA is about 1 hour south of us. A straight line from the entrance to our lane, so very easy to access by car, bus or taxi.

Getting Around

Buses run regularly to all the places you might want to go. The bus stop is about a 10 min walk from our house.

That said, i world recommend having a car.

My daughter and I are living our best life in Nayarit, Mexico. I was born and raised on Brooklyn, NY and have since traveled extensively (31 countries so far)  and lived in Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America. My daughter was born in, and our last home was  in (and most of our chosen family are in/near) Berkeley, CA.  

Our MX house is beautiful (both elegant and rustic), small, simply furnished, and cozy -- kind of like our family, located in the jungle of this sweet and quiet pueblito, Las Lomas, Nayarit, MX. We are an 7/8 minute drive from San Pancho (San Francisco) and Lo De Marcos respectively.  The neighborhood is very quiet, chill and safe.  We welcome guests who are quiet and chill too.

San Pancho is a vibrant cultural haven for travelers/surfers/artists. There are tons of activities for kids  and adults including a circus school.  Lo de Marcos has very swimmable beaches and is a bit more on the chill side, with plenty of good restaurants, cultural activities and lovely people.

Puerto Vallarta is the nearest airport (about 1 hour away, easily accessible by bus). Guadalajara is 3 hours away by car. The buses here are very efficient, though having a car is nice. If you are interested in doing a car swap that is very possible. 

We feel so blessed to be living in this brand-new, adobe brick 2 bed, 2 bath, 2 floor house, surrounded by mango trees. The adobe brick keeps the house cool (though we have ceiling fans in every room and AC in 2 rooms for extreme conditions).  There is a refreshing river that rushes with cool, clean water during the rainy season. The jungle sings us to sleep every night.  our kitchen is well equipped with a blender, Italian espresso maker, an Instantpot, air fryer/dehydrator. we are connected to the foodies in the area, and are happy to let you know where to get organic produce, free range meats, etc.

My daughter is a vibrantly active 6 year old who loves to swim, cycle, boogie boarding, surf, dance, sing. You are welcome to use some of our equipment when you come to stay.

I am new to house-swapping. Though I have spent the first 4 years of my 20 years in the Bay Area as a house/dog-sitter, living everywhere from SF to Oakland to Sausalito.  I have remained friends with almost everyone I sat for.  I pride myself on leaving places just a little better than I found them.  

I can provide impeccable referrals if that is useful.

NOTE: jungle living is an active lifestyle. Insects abound and require diligent cleaning if you do not want them to take over (all of our many windows/doors have screens). We also have 2 dry compost toilets, which shouldn't require much work other than a leveling of the solid waste every week or so, plenty of sawdust, and regular cleaning.  If you haven't used a dry compost toilet I am happy to give you a tutorial.
