General Overview

CURRENTLY SEEKING: Florence / Firenze, approx. July 20 – August 1. ◆ Sun-drenched, design-lover’s apartment in a classic Park Slope brownstone — the heart of brownstone Brooklyn, on a tree-lined street in one of the city’s most beloved neighborhoods. King-size bed (letto matrimoniale), sleeps 3, and the whole of New York at your doorstep. We host verified members only — the person staying must be the member we’re exchanging with.

The Space

sun-drenched, mid-century modern retreat we call our Oasis: king mattress, cozy couch (sleeps a third guest), reading nook, smart TV with cable and streaming apps, lightning-fast WiFi, original parquet floors. Well-stocked kitchenette with service for four — fridge/freezer, stove/oven, microwave, coffee (espresso) and tea maker, pots, pans, and tools — plus a dining and work area. Full bathroom with pedestal sink, shower/tub, amazing water pressure, and natural light, stocked with hair dryer, iron, sewing and first-aid kits, toiletries, fresh towels and linens. Radiators in winter, AC in summer.

Guest Access

Fourth-floor walk-up: three flights of original brownstone stairs. Guests have the full private apartment.

Notes

In the old tradition of home exchange — where guests always left something for the household and arrived with a gift from home — we ask a $100 contribution toward housekeeping. We pay our housekeeper a living wage for her excellent work, and you arrive to a spotless home. Payable via Wise (international), Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, or PayPal. A laundromat is one block away; laundry pickup/delivery and additional housekeeping can be arranged.

Neighbourhood

Park Slope is a small village inside a giant city — safe, clean, quiet after 10pm, but lively and full of personality, with tree-lined streets of multi-million-dollar brownstones. Prospect Park (Brooklyn’s greatest amenity), the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and Green-Wood Cemetery nearby. Everything from classic Italian to Vietnamese, the freshest sushi across the street, a pizzeria on every block, Saturday farmers market at Grand Army Plaza, and a charming coffee shop right outside the door. Nights out: Nitehawk Cinema, Barbès for live music, Union Hall, and Royal Palms Shuffleboard.

Getting to my home

From JFK, LaGuardia, or Newark: 30–60 minutes by taxi or rideshare. Insider tip: our beloved local Park Slope car service, Arecibo, is usually more economical than Uber/Lyft — call ahead and a car appears. From JFK, you can also take the AirTrain to Jamaica and the LIRR straight to Atlantic Terminal, a quick hop from the apartment — often the fastest route at rush hour. Once you’re in Brooklyn, we’re steps from the subway.

Nearest airport

JFK and LaGuardia, each roughly 30–40 minutes by car; Newark about an hour.

Getting Around

Everything is walkable — cafés, restaurants, groceries, and the park. Multiple subway lines within a few minutes’ walk take you to Manhattan in about 20–25 minutes. No car needed, ever.
