General Overview

Casa Loma is 300 feet above the Pacific about 2,000 ft from the high tide in a blue zone jungle in Costa Rica. The custom built home is situated on a bluff overlooking the Pacific to the west and the mountains to the east. In the Rio Rosario watershed it gets on-shore ocean breezes during the day and cool mountain air from the river at night. Monkeys, pezotes, tucans and many other animals visit us daily. The house, constructed from cement and teak wood is a fortress that shelters you from the jungle while offering views and breezes of everything around you. It has 4 meter tall ceilings and when the sliding doors are open is as close to living in the open jungle as you can get but still have all the amenities of home. It is very quiet and private. You cannot see another residence from the house or the property. We have 3 wells on the finca that deliver some of the best water you can find anywhere in the world. The house has air conditioning but you probably won't need it because the mountain and ocean breezes provide natural cooling.

The Space

The arched doorways and high ceiling give the home a very spacious and open feeling. There are two wings of the house each with a bedroom and bathroom. The central area has a large dining area with a table that seats 8 comfortably. The kitchen is entirely teak and very large. The living area offers views of the pacific and large sliding glass doors that open in front and back to take advantage of the ocean breezes during the day and the mountain breezes coming down the rio rosario at night.

Guest Access

There is an electric gate to enter the property but otherwise there are no special access requirements

Neighbourhood

San Juanillo is a small fishing village with a beautiful white sand beach and calm waves that even young children enjoy. There are 4-5 restaurants in town mostly run by Americans and Europeans that serve great food. We are 3 kilometers from Ostinal Nature Reserve where turtles arrive to nest almost every month. In addition Nosara is 7 kilometers down the road. Nosara has world class dining and more yoga and spa offerings per capita than almost anywhere on the planet.

Getting to my home

Fly into Liberia, Guanacaste International airport and it is a 2 hour drive to my house. If you fly into the other International airport in San Jose it is a 5 hour drive from the airport.

Nearest airport

Liberia Costa Rica is closest. San Jose is the other airport in the capital

Getting Around

I recommend you rent a car during your time here. That way you can travel easily. There is bus service but it is slow. Also there are many taxis and driving services to get from one place to another.

Mannix

Greetings - The ability to share my favorite place with you is a pleasure. I spent 30 years developing our community and my property on a bluff overlooking the Pacific in the jungle of Costa Rica. This part of the world offers a relaxing, embracing, natural way of life that is found in few other locations. Many of you have equally engaging, charming and wonderful places you call home. It would be great to be in touch and maybe share the wealth and beauty that we have created. I'm happy to share all I know and would be interested to hear from you. All the best. Mannix
