Hospitality Description: For now we are trying out PLU for a home exchange in Amsterdam. We know this is a popular destination, but my daughters are living there and I’d like to spend time with them in our former hometown. In the future we might be open to other types of exchanges, and in the meantime we’re open to hospitality if a member might need a night or two in our extra bedroom.

General Overview

Our light and spacious apartment has a sunroom where you can enjoy the view and sunshine throughout the year.

The Space

Our apartment is located on the second floor, accessible by stairs only, but once you’re up, everything is conveniently on one level. You’ll find two comfortable bedrooms, each furnished with a full-size queen bed. One bedroom features its own ensuite bathroom while the second has a bathroom right next to it. Both bathrooms have a shower and one with a tub. The living room and kitchen are a real highlight. Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors flood the space with natural light and open up to stunning panoramic views of the town and the hills beyond. The apartment includes a laundry room equipped with both a washer and dryer.

Guest Access

The apartment is on the second floor, no elevator available.

Notes

One of the things we love most about living in Olot is its ideal location. It’s far enough from the main tourist hotspots to enjoy a relaxed, authentic pace of life, yet close enough to reach some of Spain’s most spectacular destinations with ease. The Costa Brava is just an hour away, Barcelona and Perpignan (France) a mere 90 minutes, and both Girona and the Pyrenees are within 45 minutes. Besides that, we live on and are surrounded by volcanoes in this hiking and cycling paradise with some of the most amazing locations within a 20 minutes drive.

Judith

Hi! We are Roelof (63) & Judith (61), a Canadian-Dutch couple with a passion for traveling. After years of splitting our time between Canada and Amsterdam, we now live on the Montsacopa, a dormant volcano in Olot, Catalonia. Our roots still partly lie in the Netherlands; Judith’s daughters live in Amsterdam, and we often look for a nice place in the capital to be close to them. Additionally, we love to slowly explore the route between Amsterdam and Olot to discover new places. As experienced (formerly on Trusted) Housesitters, we treat every home with the utmost respect and care. We usually travel as a duo, though a daughter might occasionally join us (always discussed in advance). We enjoy sharing our "volcano home" with fellow travellers and look forward to meeting you!
