General overview
4 Bedroom, 2 bath home, with a two-car garage. In the California Gold Country foothills of the Sierra Nevada, 30 minutes from downtown Sacramento, 90 minutes from South Lake Tahoe, 120 minutes to Berkeley and San Francisco (when traffic cooperates).
The space
Four bedrooms, including an upstairs master bedroom (California king bed) and master bath and a reading/sitting area in between, three bedrooms downstairs, including one larger (queen bed) and two smaller rooms (queen bed in one room, single in the other).
Including the futons in the reading/sitting upstairs and the living room downstairs, the house (depending how many sleep on the futons -- they can accommodate two children or one adult comfortably) sleeps 9-11 comfortably.
Approximately 2,000 square feet. Outside, we have a patio with a table that seats eight (or more) under a covered veranda (including lights and a fan for summer evenings), plus a gas barbecue grill, a sitting area with a fire table and a standing outdoor heater for the colder months, as well as garden and lawn areas.
Guest access
Two floors, with a stairway. Master bedroom, master bath and sitting/reading area are upstairs, everything else is downstairs. The downstairs is accessible to wheelchairs, but there are no grab bars in either bathroom.
Notes
It's a Mediterranean climate here in Northern California, and on the edge of the Central Valley, it's a bit more extreme than the Bay Area -- winters are usually rather wet (but we rarely get snow at our elevation of 1,300 feet), and summers are dry and often quite hot. We have a nice mini-split heating/cooling system that keeps the home comfortable in all seasons.

Neighbourhood
We're in a semi-rural suburban neighborhood. Everything you need is fairly close -- 1-2 miles. Grocery stories, restaurants, etc. Lots of places to walk, including out the front door and around the immediate neighborhood. We're 20 minutes from the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park in Coloma, where the Gold Rush got started in 1849. The American River Trail begins just down the hill from us in Folsom, with paved bicycle paths that go all the way to Discovery Park in Sacramento.
Getting to my home
Unfortunately, mass transit doesn't serve our area very well. Uber and Lyft serve the area (best to schedule service in advance when you want to head out from our home) or have access to a car.
Nearest airport
The Sacramento airport is 40 miles away
Getting around
You'll need a vehicle. Public transportation is quite limited. We are open to having one of our vehicles available for our guests (a Toyota Rav4 and a Nissan Altima -- both seat five, but the Rav4 does it more comfortably).

Open to anywhere -- I retired in June 2020, and we'd love to do a PLU trip to England where our son and his wife are at Oxford. We're also open to other European destinations, as well as Canada and Latin America.
We're new to PLU and to exchanging, although my wife's family exchanged to Germany and the UK many years ago.
