General Overview

Nestled on the south coast of Devon lies Waterfront Cottage, with glorious views over Slapton Ley and the beach of Torcross. The Ley is the largest natural freshwater lake in the South West. The tiny village of Torcross is yet just a stone's throw from the sea and a short drive to the chic towns of Dartmouth , Kingsbridge and Salcombe. The former fisherman's cottage has been painstakingly restored and designed to offer exceptional contemporary open plan living that makes the most of its delightful location Please view our website for more details http://thewaterfrontcottage.co.uk/

The Space

The front garden has seating for six overlooking the water at the front of the property, which is a perfect spot to soak up the morning sun and for an alfresco breakfast. Slapton Ley is a Site of Special Scientific Interest because of the habitat and the rare species which thrive in the unique conditions. The ley is home to over 100 species of birds including a nationally important population of breeding Cetti's Warblers. Within yards of the front gate you are on the sea front, a short stroll from the renowned Start Bay Inn or The Boathouse cafe along with The Billy Can who serve scones and delicious cakes! in a retro setting overlooking the Ley. From here the south west coast path will lead you north or south to the spectacular headlands and stunning beaches, follow the coast path and you will come to Beesands where you may be tempted to stop off at the famous Cricket Inn or the Britannia, locally known as The Shack, serving fresh seafood straight from the fisherman's catch!

Guest Access

The living area is open plan and features solid Swedish oak flooring throughout and a fantastic wood burner for those chilly nights. There's a large curved-screen TV/DVD and the latest built in sound system, there are many lovely paintings by local artists. French windows open out to the rear garden so that on warmer days you can drift in and out as much as you want. Head upstairs via the imaginatively lit solid timber and glass staircase to the three bedrooms which are sumptuous, cosy and stylishly presented in an understated coastal theme. The master benefits from an en suite shower room and boasts fabulous views out to the ley and the sea and beach beyond. The double also benefits from those amazing views! Whilst the twin looks out over the pretty rear garden. All the beds are super-soft dressed with quality linens, cosy blankets and throws. There are outside areas to both the front and the rear of the property allowing you to sit and relax while taking in the stunning view of both Slapton Ley and the sea. The cottage also comes with its own private parking bay.

We are a couple with a passion for travel, beautiful landscapes, and the joy of discovering new cultures. Our main home is in the UK, but we are fortunate to also have holiday homes on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey and by the beach in the South Hams Devon We love spending time in each of these special places—whether it’s exploring the vibrant and rich history of Turkey, wandering the charming villages, rolling hills and coasts of Devon, or enjoying the comforts of our UK home. Our travels take us near and far, always seeking experiences that combine relaxation, adventure, and great food. Each of our homes reflects our appreciation for style, comfort, and the local character of the area. For us, life is about embracing the unique charm of every location we call home and sharing those experiences with others We look forward to welcoming you to a place that means so much to us.
