Neighbourhood

We live in a small, quiet mountain community of about 38 homes on spacious two-acre properties. It’s a peaceful, rural setting where neighbors value privacy, dark skies, and the natural surroundings. The neighborhood roads are dirt and shared by residents, wildlife, and outdoor users, so we ask guests to please drive slowly and respectfully to help keep dust down and maintain the peaceful environment. One of the special features of our home is direct access to BLM land and trails from behind the property, so you can step right into nature for hiking, exploring, and enjoying the outdoors without needing to walk through the neighborhood. Nearby trails include many mountain biking trails in the Fourmile area and Railroad Bridge.

Nearest airport

The closest commercial airport is Colorado Springs Airport (COS), located about 79 miles southeast of our home (approximately 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours driving time depending on weather and traffic). Denver International Airport (DEN) is about 140 miles northeast (approximately 2.5 to 3 hours driving time) and is the primary international airport for the region, offering the most flight options. Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE), near Vail, is about 110 miles northwest (approximately 2 to 2.5 hours driving time) and offers seasonal and regional flight options. Small regional airports are also located in Buena Vista, Salida, and Leadville; however, these do not offer commercial airline service and are primarily used for private or charter aircraft. A rental car is strongly recommended, as public transportation options are very limited in our area.

Getting Around

Downtown Buena Vista is about 10 minutes south (5 miles) and offers shops, dining, entertainment, live music, and access to the Buena Vista River Walk along the Arkansas River. From downtown Buena Vista, Cottonwood Pass is about 8 miles west and provides access to alpine scenery, trailheads, and seasonal access toward Crested Butte and Gunnison. Cottonwood Hot Springs and Charlotte Hot Springs & Botanical Gardens are about 10–11 miles from town. Salida is about 30 miles south (approximately 35–40 minutes) and offers a vibrant historic downtown, art galleries, restaurants, shopping, and riverfront areas. Monarch Mountain ski area is about 46 miles southwest of the home. Mount Princeton Hot Springs is about 15 miles southwest and is open year-round. Leadville is about 30 miles north (approximately 35 minutes) and is a historic mining town with restaurants, shops, and museums. Twin Lakes is about 21 miles north and offers beautiful lake recreation and access to several 14er trailheads. Ski Cooper is about 39 miles northwest and is known for its relaxed, family-friendly skiing.
