General Overview

There is a lot to love about our home. Our home is designed for relaxed family living. We have four bedrooms and a large open-plan living space that’s easy to settle into, whether you’re cooking, relaxing, or spending time together. Outside, there’s a huge deck and backyard that really extend the living space. We’re also just a five-minute walk from the beach (we do have a bit of a view!), which makes it easy to enjoy the best of Nanaimo’s outdoor lifestyle. Nanaimo is a great base for exploring Vancouver Island and beyond. From here, you can easily reach nearby beaches, parks, and charming towns like Parksville, Qualicum Beach, and Chemainus. Ferries and the local airport make day trips to Vancouver, Victoria, or other parts of the island simple, while the surrounding natural areas offer endless opportunities for hiking, kayaking, and exploring nature.

The Space

The home has four comfortable bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, and a spacious open plan main living area that includes the kitchen, dining, and lounge. The layout works well for families who want to spend time together while still having space to spread out. The large deck and backyard are great for outdoor meals, relaxing, or giving the kids space to play. - Bedroom #1 downstairs has a queen bed and ensuite - Bedroom #2 downstairs has a queen bed and ensuite - Bedroom #3 upstairs has a double bed and shared bathroom - Bedroom #4 upstairs has a double bed and shared bathroom

Guest Access

Guests have access to the entire home. The house is on two levels with stairs between floors. Please note there are lots of stairs if you have mobility considerations. We are not set up with gates for stairs if you have young children.

Notes

We do have a friendly cat, who would be part of the exchange. Care is minimal and details can be discussed in advance.

Neighbourhood

We’re in a quiet, family-friendly neighbourhood close to the beach, parks, and walking trails. It’s an easy place to relax while still being close to everything Nanaimo has to offer.

Getting to my home

Nanaimo is accessible by ferry, plane, or car. From Vancouver, ferries run regularly to Nanaimo, and we are super close to Departure Bay ferry terminal. Nanaimo Airport also offers regional flights.

Getting Around

While Nanaimo has public transit, most visitors find having a car makes it easier to explore both the city and the rest of Vancouver Island. Its central location makes it easy to reach Vancouver by ferry, Victoria in about 1.5 hours, the sandy beaches of Parksville in 20 minutes, the rugged west coast in 2.5 hours, or the alpine trails of Strathcona Park. Even without leaving town, Nanaimo offers plenty to enjoy — from scenic beaches and parks to trails, shops, and local cafes. While a car is recommended for getting around Vancouver Island, we are within walking distance to a grocery store, coffee shop, and liquor store.
