General Overview

Our bright Sunshine home, complete with all amenities, is the perfect base to explore Melbourne. Located just 5 minutes walk to Sunshine train station, there are regular trains into the city (30mins), where major tourism destinations can be reached, while a quick stroll into the Sunshine town centre has everything you need day to day (markets, restaurants, bars, library, cinema). We can also offer our beach escape house, surrounded by nature, and walking distance from the stunning Sandy Point Surf Beach. The house is huge, and equipped with games, surfboards and holiday amenities, you can also expect local wildlife encounters, as it is very close to Wilson's Promontory National Park.

The Space

The house itself has two bedrooms with an additional study, a large lounge and entertainment area, back and front yard and two bathrooms, with additional sofa beds to accomodate up to eight people. We have a big family, with plenty of grandkids, and believe our house to be 'grandchild friendly', with playgrounds nearby, toys/games to play with and a TV with added movie channels. We are also open to offering the use of our three bedroom beach house in Wilson's Promontory, which is 2.5hrs drive from the city. The house is 5 minutes walk from the stunning Sandy Point surf beach, and equipped with boards to enjoy. Surrounded by nature, it is not unusual to have a wombat, koala or possum visit the backyard while the national park, complete with its world famous beaches and hikes, is a mere 20 minutes drive . So you can have the full city & sea experience while in town.

Neighbourhood

The neighbourhood centre is ten minutes walk from the home with a very busy mains street, complete with numerous restaurants, bars and cafes, a public pool and gym, cinema, library and shopping centre. A creek and large parklands are also within 10 minutes walk, with numerous parks and playgrounds in the area. The tree lined streets are very quiet, with a calm suburban feel.

Getting to my home

Sunshine train station is a 5 minute walk from the house, connecting you to the Melbourne CBD and other major tourist hot spots. There is a major bus terminal nearby with multiple buses going all over Melbourne.

We are recently retired community workers across the fields of housing, disability, indigenous leadership and development, who finally have the time to follow our curiosity. We are very eager to travel slowly, exploring new neighbourhoods, discover local cafés, galleries, and everyday rhythms. We believe the best way to see the world is by living in it, even if just for a little while, and house exchange feels like a genuinely cool, meaningful way to experience places beyond the tourist lens.
