Hospitality Description: We live next door, so if we are home when people visit, we can provide information about sites to visit and shopping etc. The area is Gail's ancestral land, and she has unique knowledge of the area and its cultural history. There is a vegetable garden and fruit trees on the property, and we are happy to share organic herbs and seasonal fruit and vegetables from the gardens.

General Overview

We own two houses together, one primarily for us and another for family and friends. Our homes have a spectacular view across the Whangaroa Harbour towards the east and sunrise. The houses are elevated and in a coastal rural area. The house is a short drive to numerous amazing beaches and historic places and walks. It is a comfortable day trip to the Bay of Islands, Cape Reinga, or Waipoua Forest, which are renowned tourist attractions.

Gail and Ian

We have enjoyed a life of raising family, travelling and professional careers in health, arts and culture. We travel once or twice internationally to keep exploring the world and visiting friends. Ian is semi-retired, and Gail is still working, so trips are limited to 1 -4 weeks. We enjoy living locally when we travel, staying in neighbourhoods and learning about the communities we stay in. Our home is a 3-bedroom house in the far north of New Zealand (Aotearoa). We have had familial connections to this place for generations and have been living here permanently for some years.
